Today was was the one week anniversary of moving in with my aunt. Let me tell you the amount of chaos this woman holds in her body is astounding. All last week we've been training in the gym. I think we both needed to something to take our mind off recent events. She wasn't messing around when she said she could fight. I have yet to gain the upper hand in a sparring match and it's frustrating to say the least
Even though I got to spend top tier quality time with my aunt this week I'm ecstatic for today. Why you may ask? We'll today she was letting me tag along with her to the bar!
I was practically bouncing off the walls with excitement.
"Izu, if you don't calm your tits I'm gonna leave you here to suffer." She was drinking coffee at the kitchen table while glaring at me.
"I can't help it! I've been cooped up inside for too long! I need air, I need light, I need adventure!" My cheeks hurt from smiling too much.
"And I need you to lower your fuckin' voice before I duct tape your mouth shut." Her face held a light smile but her eyes promised to follow through with the threat.
"I'm sorry auntie! Im just excited. Did you sleep okay?" I put peanut butter on a slice of toast and started eating.
"Not in the slightest but what else is new. What about you kiddo?" She was answering work emails but gave a glance in my direction when she asked.
I sighed. "Yah." We both knew it was a blatant lie. All I could see when I closed my eyes was my parents being shot and then our home blowing to bits. It's not an experience one just magically forgets.
Auntie downed the rest of her coffee and turned off her phone. "Ya ready kiddo?" She took her keys from the counter and walked towards the garage.
"Oh I was born ready." I jumped from the chair and ran after her. She let out a snort.
"Really Izu? Born ready? That's the best you got?" She shook her head in mock disappointment. "You get that from your dad. He had the worst comebacks of all time. It was sad to watch honestly."
"Oh I know. Mom made fun of him all the time." Auntie started the car and we took off. I scrolled through radio stations until I heard the ever glorious Freddie Mercury and my aunt nodded approvingly.
"At least you got good music taste. Maybe you aren't a total lost cause after all." I smacked her arm as she cackled.
"You're so mean!" I pouted in my seat.
"Aw poor baby! You're so mistreated. It's not like you have a super awesomesauce aunt who's taking you to work with her." The sarcasm was palpable.
"I am very mistreated. This is child endangerment. I should call child protective services." I sassed back.
"I will turn this car around so fast it'll give you whip lash ya lil shit." We stopped at a red light.
"Me being Mistreated? Absolutely not. You're the best auntie ever! Have I told you how beautiful you look today?" I gave her my best innocent smile and puppy eyes.
The light turned green and the car started rolling again. "Mhm that tone changed real quick right there." She chuckled as we pulled into the parking lot of our destination.
"Alright some rules before we go in. Do not under any circumstances leave with anyone other than me. That should be self explanatory but you are your father's child. Secondly, this is a bar. It's not a play ground, so don't be running around. Ya got me?"
"I got you! Now let's go. I wanna see what it looks like. I haven't seen it since you rebuilt the place." Two years ago there was a kitchen fire and auntie basically had to rebuild this place from the ground up. It was called The Tavern. Pretty basic if you ask me. She should've picked a flashier name for it.
