"Lele, I'm here!" Jisung and Mark walked into the shared apartment with big smiles.
Chenle quickly made his way out of his room to go hug Jisung. "I thought I was meeting you downstairs?" Mark thought the way Jisung was looking down at Chenle was disgustingly cute.
"Me and Mark were out so we thought we'd come up here so Mark could see his girlfriend." Jisung got a smack to the side but he paid no attention to it. "Aww, that's sweet."
They all turned to Kyungmi who still had her back to them. Chenle huffed and went to tap Kyungmi on the shoulder.
"Lele I told you I'm-" Kyungmi made direct eye contact with Mark. Her face turned sour as she glared at Chenle. "Chenle. Why is he here."
Chenle put his hands up defensively. "For once this was not my doing!" Kyungmi crossed her arms, obviously not buying it, everyone knew Chenle was the biggest instigator. "Blame Jisung! And why do you care so much?"
She gestures to her clothes with an incredulous look on her face. "Because I look like an idiot!" She was completely covered in flour and dough, standing in a kitchen that looked like it had gone through 3 world wars.
"You look stupid you say? Then why is Mark staring at you with the most enamoured stare anyone could have." Mark quickly looked away with red cheeks as Kyungmi took in a sharp breath. "Shut up."
Chenle just rolled his eyes, making his way back over to Jisung. "Well, we're going to get going." Chenle grabbed Jisung's hand before turning to his two friends. "I need a heads up if you guys are gonna do anything, the last thing I need is to walk in on you two making out."
Mark's eyes comically widened as the glare on Kyungmi deepens. "You better sleep with one eye open."
"Oh you're so scary. By love birds!" Before Kyungmi could curse him out, he ran out the door.
Once the door shut Kyungmi took the cookies out of the oven as Mark slowly made his way over to the kitchen, inspecting the disaster.
"So," Kyungmi stood near the fridge, hands clasped in front of her. "Mind telling me what you're trying to do? It looks like a tornado ran through this place."
With a sigh, Kyungmi took a pen so she could write on the back of the recipe she wrote down. "I'm making cookies."
Mark nodded, but that still didn't answer his question. "I thought you hated cooking?" One thing about Kyungmi that was common knowledge was the fact that she hated cooking. Despised it. Detested it. She claimed it was an unnecessary amount of work for something that wasn't guaranteed to taste good.
However, most of the group thinks the hatred comes from the fact that she is absolutely terrible at it.
"Oh I do hate it." Kyungmi glared at the 3 batches of failed cookies. "I probably hate it more now."
The comment made Mark rub his eyes, even more puzzled. "Okay, then why are you doing this?" Mark once again saw that hesitation in Kyungmi.
Shewas rarely one to look hesitant. She thought things through but didn't second-guess herself much. So seeing Kyungmi like this was kind of unsettling.
"I made these for you." The writing was almost illegible because of how fast Kyungmi wrote it.
"As much as I think this is a sweet gesture, why did you do it for me?" Kyungmi glanced at Mark considering the outcomes of this situation.
After briefly assessing, she realized that no matter what, Mark wouldn't judge her. She also went through hell and back to make these and she wasn't going to waste her efforts.
"I got your brother's number from Donghyuck to ask him for a recipe that your mom made. You said that her cooking made you less anxious so I wanted to see if I could help you."
Mark's eyes softened "Are you serious?" Mark was almost in tears. "Umi oh my god." The fact that Kyungmi did something even though she despised it made him unbelievably happy.
Kyungmi took a glance at the cookies on the baking sheet, slightly wincing. "This is my fourth batch... the rest failed. I don't know if they're gonna taste good."
"I'm sure they'll be fine." Mark took one off the baking tray. "And besides, it doesn't matter if they're good or not, your effort is what makes these special."
Kyungmi was intently watching him take a cookie off the sheet to eat it.
Now, Mark wasn't going to lie and say these were the best thing he's ever tasted, but they weren't terrible. "They're actually pretty good!"
But honestly with the puppy dog eyes Kyungmi was just giving him, he probably would've lied his ass off if the cookies tasted horrible.
"Here, taste it." Mark gave the half-eaten cookie to Kyungmi and got her to take a bite.
Kyungmis face lit up with a proud smile. "I kinda did a good job."
Mark nodded and gave her a small pat on the head, causing her face to burst out in flames.
Mark either didn't notice or didn't care as he changed the subject with an excited look on his face. "Hell's kitchen starts today, can we go in your room and watch it?"
There was a tv in the living room that was working perfectly fine and they both knew that. But that didn't stop Kyungmi from taking Mark's hand to go lay in her bed and cuddle while watching something random on her tv.
