CHAPTER 7
THE ALMOST KISS

          ONCE THE THREE Nevermores and Principal Weems reached the academy, Principal Weems led them to the nurses' office where Esmeralda will be treated for her burns.

          "Royal, you don't need to accompany me, I can take care of myself. You don't have to worry." Esmeralda said when they stood in front of the nurse's office.

          Royal rolled her eyes. "I don't care what you say, I'm accompanying you whether you like it or not." She insisted.

          Esmeralda grinned. "You're truly the best roommate ever." She then turned to look at Wednesday. "Thank you, Wednesday. For what to you did to that boy back there." Esmeralda smiled at the girl.

          Wednesday merely nodded her head before walking away and back to her dorm room where her roommate was waiting for her.

          Esmeralda and Royal entered the nurses office, accompanied by Principal Weems. "How may I help you?" The nurse at the counter asked. Principal Weems proceeded to explain Esmeralda's burns.

          The nurse frowned in worry when she heard the story. "Oh dear, that's really bad.. I'll do a quick check to see if there's any serious burns." The nurse introduced herself to be Nurse Kelly, an old student at Nevermore academy who came back to serve the school. She then led the two roommates and the principal to another room where patients are being observed for injuries.

           "Please sit here." Nurse Kelly instructed Esmeralda, asking her to sit on an elevated white bed.

          Esmeralda sat down on the bed, facing Nurse Kelly. "I'll have to close all the windows to block the sunlight. So if you don't mind waiting outside?.." Nurse Kelly said to Principal Weems and Royal.

          Once Principal Weems and Royal left the room, standing outside of the door of the room Esmeralda was in, Principal Weems looked at her watch and realised she had matters to attend to. "I have to go now. Please stay here and wait for Esmeralda. I'll let your teachers know the reason you and Esmeralda are absent." She said, before leaving.

          Royal sat down on a chair closest to her. And stared at the door of the room, her mind going to another place. Out of boredom, Royal started to play with her hair, thinking about Bianca again.

          "Are you Royal?" A voice suddenly said. Royal snapped out of her daydream and looked left in the direction of the voice.

          A pale girl with a platinum blonde hair and a seashell necklace, sat on a white chair, making her almost invisible. It was no wonder Royal didn't notice her before. She blended in with the white surroundings with ease.

          "Uh yes I am. Who are you?" Royal asked.

          "Name's Ingrid. I'm Bianca's roommate." Ingrid said, stretching out her hand for Royal to shake, which she did. "Bianca has told me a lot about you." She said, her dead like eyes staring into Royal's soul.

A shiver was sent down Royal's spine while she felt goosebumps all over.

Run. The voice in her mind said again.

Run? Again? Why? Royal asked.

Once again, the voice in her mind warned her that she was in intense danger. First Tyler, Esmeralda's friend and now Ingrid, Bianca's roommate. Both seemed innocent. So what kind of danger was the voice warning her about?
