CHAPTER 10
THE QUIET ONES

"ESME? Esme!" Royal yelled as she looked around the festival for her roommate. Everybody else stared at her and whispered behind her back about how noisy she was.

Wednesday ran over to Royal. "She's not here?" The girl in black and white asked as her chest rose up and down with every heavy breath she took.

"No shit, Sherlock." Royal rolled her eyes. She then turned to face the girl. "Seriously, Wednesday. Couldn't you have just told us that you were leaving?"

"Enlighten me as to what difference it would have made, I would have left either way." Wednesday glared.

"We're friends, Wednesday. You said so, yourself." Royal argued. "Friends tell each other when one of them is leaving. You don't keep your friends in the dark. If you had just told Esmeralda about your departure, this wouldn't have happened. That's the difference it would have made." Royal scowled.

Wednesday didn't have anything to say to the witch. Instead she merely looked at the frustrated witch. Royal shook her head. "Let's just find Esmeralda and get this over with." The ginger said.

Just then, the two new students who cared for the same girl heard a familiar cry. "Let go of me!" A distant voice which sounded like Esmeralda, yelled.

Wednesday turned to the direction of where the voice was coming from. "It came from over there." Wednesday declared, looking at Royal who nodded. The two girls ran towards the source of the cry.

"Rowan?" Wednesday frowned when she and Royal saw the boy with glasses holding on to a scared Esmeralda. "Rowan what are you doing?" The girl with pigtails asked cautiously.

The two girls stood a few steps away from the nerdy looking boy and Esmeralda. "Rowan... let Esmeralda go." Royal insisted.

Rowan merely chuckled. "No can do."

"Let her go!" Wednesday snapped, clenching her fists. She took a step forward and grabbed Rowan's hand in anger. However, the moment Wednesday touched the boy, her head was thrown back and she started shaking violently like she had a seizure.

          Royal's eyes widened in fear. "Wednesday!" Royal yelled when she saw the girl shaking. She pulled Wednesday away from Rowan which caused Wednesday's seizure to stop & for her to snap out of her vision. Wednesday fell backwards and Royal caught the girl as she panting heavily. Rowan scowled and dragged poor Esmeralda along with him into the nearby forest.

           Esmeralda whimpered as she tried to get out of Rowan's grip but for some reason, Rowan just wouldn't budge. The vampire turned to look at Wednesday and Royal. "Royal! Wednesday!" She screamed, causing the girl in black and white to snap back to reality.

           "Esmeralda!" The Addams girl shouted. Rowan frowned and pulled the vampire along, venturing deeper into the forest.

          "This is bad, really really bad." Royal muttered, her heart beating faster and faster as her worry for her friend grew. She and Wednesday ran as fast as they could towards Rowan and Esmeralda.

          For a reason Royal suspects, Wednesday seemed even more worried than Royal was. Although the girl had a deadpanned expression, the witch could see in her eyes that Wednesday cared for Esmeralda.

          Once Rowan had successfully dragged the poor vampire into the middle of the forest, the boy stopped, letting Wednesday and Royal catch up to him.
