i was once a little girl
so innocent and sweet
unknowing of the world
trying to suffocate me
so what happens to little girls
who hold paint brushes in their hands
only for them to turn into blades
painting lines of red
so what happens to young girls
who express themselves a little too much
only to be told their delusional or psycho
with pills shoved down their throats
so what happens to teenage girls
who fall for boys like it's uncomplicated
only for their hearts to be broken
mourning a faux death
so what happens when that little girl grows up
does she realise the uncanny truth of the world
and its dishonourable reality
what happens then?
what happens to the innocence of these girls
snatched away in infancy
where does it go before they are willing to fight for it
what if they never get it back?
