I gave the light blue boy a look that said, 'don't test me', before I turned back to Neteyam.
"If you want to learn our finger talk, come with me." Was all I said, before I left the water and took off.
Neteyam's POV
I was sat on a large rock beside the ocean, staring at the frustrated chiefs daughter.
Repetition, repetition, repetition.
It is so hard to pay attention when the water was so close to me, and I could feel it's droplets on my skin and smell it in the air. It's also difficult to pay attention when--
"You're not focusing." Fao angrily ground out, and I laughed at her frustration. It was so easy for me to get her riled up, and I wasn't sure why. For all I know, I was the only other person who had this effect on her. Or maybe I was just very annoying.
She took me away privately to teach my basic phrases commonly used under water with my fingers. I assumed it would be easy to grasp, because it was just hand movement, but I was so wrong it was embarrassing.
I moved my hand in slow and unsure movements, looking up at Fao through my eyebrows. "Is that right?" She leaned forward with a sigh, her blue eyes suddenly close to mine, causing me to tense up.
She grabbed my hands with hers, which were surprisingly soft compared to her harsh exterior, before moving my hands ever so slightly. I didn't understand how such a small change could make a big difference, but I just shrugged it off and went with it.
"Try again." She muttered, pushing a curl from her face, and I had to force myself not to lean forward.
Once again, my hands moved, however this time I was a bit more confident in my gestures. I looked up to a smiling Fao, putting her fangs on display which glinted in the light, and I couldn't help but return it. "Better."
"Now again."

"Where were you?"
I sighed as I took a seat in my family's shack in between Lo'ak and Kiri. Apparently there was some sort of 'Sully Family Meeting' that I had unintentionally missed out on.
I heard Kiri cough out a laugh, and before I could even reply to my fathers question, I was cut off by my younger brother.
"He had a date with the chiefs daughter." He yelled out, and I harshly slapped him on the head in anger. "Bro!"
