first of all i'd like to mention that Chop Top has PTSD from the war so he'd probably understand having 'over the top' reactions to some things. he knows that even if it might seem small or pointless to him, it's not that way to you. regardless of what's upsetting you, he wants to help.
i feel like it's safe to assume his childhood was rough- being raised to work in the slaughterhouse, Drayton being grumpy (if he hits Chop Top and Nubbins and Bubba now then i wouldn't doubt he did it when they were kids too), them keeping dead bodies in their house, being trained to kill people, etc. so if you're upset because you're remembering something rough from your childhood, he might not fully grasp why it's upsetting you so much. of course, he'd be more than willing to try to help anyways. if you explain to him how scary it was and how bad it felt, he'll understand.
he might make a CD of your favorite songs to play when you're sad. you can make one for him too. he'd appreciate it.

i feel like if he had the chance to listen to them, he might also like grunge rock bands like Nirvana and Arctic Monkeys. ya know. if he wasn't in a movie set in the early 80's. sometimes when i listen to Nirvana and Arctic Monkeys i just end up going "i feel like he'd like this." like Do I Wanna Know by Arctic Monkeys or Heart Shaped Box by Nirvana, for example.
if he's having a flashback, put on his favorite music. he'd also probably enjoy his lava lamps and little colorful light up things to distract him. like those little spinny disco balls or plasma balls. like... these things.

if you're like me, Cornbugs might be a comfort band of yours. for me it's bc Chop Top is my biggest comfort character and it's literally his voice. i feel like Chop Top would be super honored if his band brought you comfort.
he'd probably try to be goofy and cheer you up by making you laugh.
if you prefer to believe that Nubbins is still alive (me too, i get it) then Chop Top might get you, Nubbins, and Bubba to watch a movie together. idk why but i just feel like Nubbins would really like watching tv.
if you prefer to rely on the canonical version where Nubbins is a corpse, Chop Top- er... Nubbins.. would tell you jokes. (it'd be like the darkest puppet show ever)
i feel like Chop Top would really appreciate hugs when he's upset. if you ever came into y'all's room and saw him crying and lying in bed, i think crawling up next to him and holding him in your arms would make him feel a lot better.

if you're feeling insecure with how you look, he'll be glad to rant about how pretty you are. he'll tell you all about how you're the hottest and prettiest person he's ever met. how it doesn't matter if you have traits that aren't conventionally attractive. "I-I mean, look at me. I'm no s-sight for sore eyes myself, heh heh." but he prefers the way you look. he'd rather have you than anyone else. besides, conventional beauty standards don't define beauty. you can be unconventionally gorgeous. and he sees that.
think about it this way- Chop Top has a noticeable overbite, yellow and brown teeth, a large birthmark on his face, a mole on his cheek, a slight unibrow, eye bags, almost no hair, and a big old metal plate on his head. according to conventional beauty standards, he should be ugly, right? well if you're reading this, it's safe to assume you find him as sexy as i do. conventional beauty standards don't define beauty.
he knows Bubba always holds you in their arms and pets your hair when you cry, so he might try to do that too. "shit, wh-what would Bubba do right now..?" bc Bubba is a very nice and sensitive and caring person, Chop Top might learn a few things from him.
he might be a little embarrassed, but you can offer a stuffed animal of yours for him to hold. once he got past being embarrassed, i feel like it'd be comforting. especially if it smells like you.
in case of a flashback, try to keep him grounded. point to some of his favorite things and say "what's that? can you tell me about it? why's it so special?" or have him try to read something. something small tho- if the whole "E.... X.... I.... T! exit!" thing was any hint, he's not the best at reading. point to one of his pins and ask him to tell you what it says- even if you both know. keeping him grounded could help immensely.
if the reason you're upset is because of some asshole, tell him. because he'll get the whole family and they'll make sure that person can't hurt you (or anyone else for that matter) ever again. they all love you and care about you so much. you're so incredibly special to them.
