Authors POV: 7 years before the death of Crepus and Diluc's rampage across Snezhnaya.

Kaeya wakes from his medically induced slumber to the familiar face of Zandik (Prime build Il Dottore).
"Wakey, wakey Twilight Shield, you have been preserved for what is it nearly 500 years. We, the Jester and I, have a plan that requires you to spy on one of the most powerful families in Mondstadt." Il Dottore tells him
"Wha-, why?" Kaeya says, questioning what is going on.
"I want you to go to Mondstadt and be adopted by the Ragnvindr family once you've been adopted you should find a tall man with pale blue hair and a blindfold he will give you pointers as to what to do." Dottore said in a way so literal that even a 6 year old child could understand.
"Will do, Mister Zandik." Kaeya had agreed to do it
"Please don't call me Zandik in front of the other harbingers, I'd never hear the end of it."
"This is one of my Pyro Delusions, keep it on you at all times and keep it hidden and only use it if needed." Zandik says, handing Kaeya a metallic item with a glowing, swirling red and blue vision like stone on it.

A week later in Mondstadt

Kaeya had been adopted by Crepus Ragnvindr and his son Diluc. He had met with Dottore's Beta build and was playing in the city when three Asshole bullies decided to harass him for having dark blue hair and wearing an eyepatch.

"What's wrong, pretty boy, can't stand having short hair." One of the bullies says as he pulls Kaeya's long flowing hair
"What just because you're rich means you're untouchable," another of the bullies says as the first bully pulls his hair.
"Guys, have an idea. Let us see what's under that eyepatch." The third bully says to which the other two agree.
They pull off Kaeya's eyepatch and freak out when they see an eye with a black sclera, golden iris, and a glowing white pupil.
"What the hell, are you a monster? Why is your eye like that?" All three of the boys screamed in unity. In the shock, Kaeya grabbed his eyepatch and ran all the way to the Stormbearer mountains, where he reattached his eyepatch and started a trip back to Zapolyarny Palace in Snezhnaya.

Two months later, near the border to Snezhnaya.

Kaeya found a kind Snezhnayan Adventurer guild lady who gave him some supplies for the long four day trek to the capital, including some chicken and mushroom skewers and some apples (reference to his signature dish: fruity skewers). On the third day, he had made it to the city and was near the entrance to the Palace when a snowstorm struck and he was stuck just outside the gate. He passed out given the weight of the snow and the lack of temperature surrounding him. The only thing keeping him alive being the Pyro Delusion, which he was clutching in his hands as he faded into unconsciousness .

The following morning, Il Dottore (Alpha build, prime but with the bird mask) and Pantalone were going on a morning stroll after the previous night's storm and to socialise with the people of Snezhnaya.
"You did not have to come with me, Good Doctor, I could have done this myself."
"Nonsense, I just wanted to spend time with one of the few of the other harbingers I enjoy being around and don't hate."

Out of the corner of their eyes, the Second and Ninth Harbingers notice an uncharacteristic mound of snow. "Look, Doctor, there is something there." Pantalone says as he jumps down to the ground and starts shovelling away the thick snow with Dottore joining in helping move the snow.
What they find shocked them both, a scrawny 15 year old boy with dark blue hair and an eyepatch curled up trying to remain warm but failing desperately. One thing catches Dottore's 'eyes', a glowing blue and red stone in the boy's hands. "Wait, that is one of my spare delusions, this boy. Is. KAEYA???" Dottore says, shocked. "Pant, continue on your tour of the city, I have something to attend to."
Dottore picks up Kaeya's unconscious body, making sure that the delusion doesn't slip from his hands and carries him to a warm laboratory of his in the palace. Dottore then switches segments to prime or original and goes back to the laboratory, which holds Kaeya.

After a few hours, Kaeya is sufficiently warm enough and wakes up to see that same face that woke him up from his icy slumber, just a few weeks ago, slumped over in a chair across the room.
