Wednesday woke up to bells ringing somewhere. She remembered last night lightly. The movies. The poor cat...and falling asleep. She was on her bed now, someone had moved her, and she felt cold, almost empty. It was a nice feeling typically, but not now.

"Oh, you're up! It's only eight, we don't have school because of winter break, if you are leaving for Christmas you should start packing now because-"

"I'm not, my mother asked but I made it very clear I was staying."

"Um...I'm not sure you grasped the concept of...how Christmassy it gets around here, it's all free than brake hits and... boom, cookies, trees, candles, lights, decorations, they are already setting up the halls."

Wednesday felt an instant regret for her decision. Christmas decorations were horrid, like little red and gold balls of torture.

She turned around and almost gasped in surprise. "You're not decorating your side of the room?"

"Of course I am silly! I'm shopping for them right now, we have instant delivery rates here, all my stuff should be here in a few hours," she said, patting her computer. "I even got you some white lights and dark blue and silver decorations, I plan on putting the tree right in the middle of our room in front of the window."

Wednesday shrugged. "Christmas is only for a few days, you can decorate my side too if you wish." Usually, she wouldn't say this, but after last night maybe the hatred for all the colours would take her mind off...everything.

Wednesday stood up. "I am going to go on a walk."

Enid waved goodbye and continued shopping as Wednesday walked out. The halls were decorated. The whole top was covered in lights. Mistletoe was hung under every arch, trees were set up in every room, and everyone was smiling. Wednesday pulled her black and white plaid sweater closer over her black tank top. She wasn't used to New England's cold and brisk winters. Flakes of snow pound her face as she walked deeper into the forest. Her boots were platformed and kept her mostly out on the snow, but that was not stopping her feet from freezing. After about ten minutes she turned back around, her fingers feeling even more numb than her ears.

When she arrived back Wednesday could feel a thin layer of snow sitting on top of her head, the single braid was less warm than two, and she found herself rushing into the dorm. It turned out to be full of boxes. Enid had been right. Twenty minutes for all of them to be delivered.

Enid was already stringing lights around the whole room, they were a single solid white, and Wednesday felt herself smile at the fact Enid wasn't using colours, most licky for her.
"Hey, Roomie!"

"Hello Enid," Wednesday huffed, shaking her head to take off the snow. Thing ran up to her, his nails painted like candy canes. Wednesday wondered how fast Enid was physically able to do Christmas stuff.

"A little help?" Enid asked, standing on her tiptoes at the top of the latter. "Just grab my waist so I don't fall! If I let go of this all the lights will fall!" Wednesday climbed up the ladder and gripped Enid's ankles. "I said waist!" Wednesday climbed higher and gripped Enid's knees. "Oh for goodness sake! Waist! That is making me less steady, grab my...ugh." Wednesday stepped up again and grabbed her waist, trying to touch her as little as she could as the other girl attached the lights.

"Thanks, they are secure all around the room now!"

Wednesday hurried down the ladder and sat on her bed, looking at all the boxes. The room was a mess, but somehow seemed organized in a pattern. Lights. Bobbles. Wired snow globes...everywhere.

Wednesday stood back up and walked over to look at the snow globes. One caught her attention, dragging her into the model of Big Ben, like she was actually there. Wednesday picked it up and shook it. The snow came off the ground and floated around, spiraling like little white birds in the wind. As the fake snow floated back to the ground, Wednesday shook it again, not wanting the flakes to land, wishing it could keep going. She had never really seen a snow globe before, but now she was captivated.
