Previously on sunflower fields;

"Looking like a crying hot mess is not in fashion, Y/n."

She opened her clutch purse, which to your surprise and relief filled with make up of all sorts. You washed off your face in the sink and turned to Mabel just in time for her to grab your face and apply make-up back on properly this time. After she'd finished she stepped back and studied your face like you were some sort of sculpture or glittery masterpiece.

~~~~~~~~Present~~~~~~~~
The pair of you left the bathroom, fully glammed up and giggling to one another like little kids. Thankfully there was no longer anyone waiting in the hallway for the toilet, or chatting in general for that matter. You both head back into the main party area. It looked a little scarce.
Actually as you took another step forwards you came to the realisation that no one was in the room. Glancing cautiously out the window, all of the parked bikes and cars seemed to have vanished as you caught a glance of the last stragglers as they reached the end of the path and disappeared completely from view.
"Their Leaving?! Did I miss my own cake cutting ceremony?!"
Mabel exclaimed, her hands clasped around her mouth in pure surprise.
"Is it really that late?"
She pressed questions further. You shook your head in response, glancing down at your phone for the time before speaking up.
"No no, it's just gone 7pm. You shouldn't have missed your cake, don't worry."
"Maybe something happened or something here came up and the party had to end early?"
You queried, thinking back not too long ago as you shouted at ford. Have you been the reason? Did he call off the party because of you? To be honest you weren't overly sure what ford was like anymore so you didn't know whether to put that idea past him or not.
Mabel took you by the wrist which pulled you out of your own thoughts as she dragged you into the main house from the gift shop. You both were determined to figure out why the party had been cut short and just what was going on.
You entered the living room with Mabel Close behind, it felt as though you both were late to a very important family meeting. Dipper, Ford, Soos, Stan, even Waddles were there too.
"Woah woah woah! Where'd the party go? Don't we have a cake to cut? What's going on?"
Mabel asked, trying to lighten, what felt like to you as a rather sour mood. Stan was the first to speak up.
"Mabel kiddo, we'll do that later or somethin".
Mabel grabbed Waddles playing with him as she listened into the conversation while providing herself with a comforting distraction. Ford was the next to continue as you took a seat  on the far edge of the sofa, clearly not overly impressed with him for obvious reasons.
"There's something more important and dangerous at play here so there's not a great deal of time for fun games and celebrations, we'll celebrate your party later okay?"
