Third Person's POV
Vikrant enters his house, his mind chaotic after everything he heard from his private investigator a few hours back.
He still is unable to believe that Nandini's parents hate her to the extent that they even called the police on Manish just because he asked a few questions about her.
But he can't blame them. After all, Nandini is the reason behind their son's death.
He doesn't know yet what had happened in the past because Mr. and Mrs. Iyer didn't reveal anything regarding Vivek's death to Manish.
But I'm sure Nandini is at fault. Otherwise, why would any parent hate their daughter? Vikrant thinks as he walks inside his room.
He frowns, seeing the whole room immersed in darkness. Finding the switch beside the doorframe, he immediately turns on the light.
"Sleeping like she has no care in the world." He sighs heavily when he sees Nandini lying on the bed.
Her back was facing him, so he was unsure if she was really asleep, but he assumed she was sleeping because she was lying still.
He is about to walk to the bathroom to freshen up when he hears her voice.
"Why would I have any care of the world? Only the great Vikrant Sisodiya has taken it upon himself to interfere in others' lives and worry about everyone in this world. Hasn't he?" Nandini sits up on the bed and faces Vikrant.
"I have no energy to argue with you, Nandini. So, please, spare me tonight."
"Why would you have any energy left after you wasted it all by snooping into my personal matters?" Nandini climbs down from the bed and saunters toward him.
"What I waste my energy on is none of your business."
Saying that, Vikrant is about to walk away from Nandini, but she stops him by holding his arm.
"It becomes my business when it involves me." She fumes. "How dare you send a private investigator to my parent's house?" She inquires, her voice stiff and eyes emitting anger that she feels for him at the moment.
"I sent him there because I wanted to know what had happened to you that made you react that way a few days back," Vikrant replies, freeing his arm from her hold.
"Why would you want to know anything about me when you have made it clear that I mean nothing to you?" She counters. "Why I reacted that way should be none of your business."
Vikrant lets out a sly smirk as he shakes his head at Nandini. "I know why you are acting so defensively. After all, you are not what you show you are. You show everyone you are innocent and virtuous, but that's the false image you portray to the world. On the inside, you are a manipulative, cold-hearted girl who killed her brother. You are nothing but a murderer, Nandini Iyer. A murder—" Vikrant stops abruptly when he feels a stinging pain on his cheek.
Unable to believe what Nandini did, he looks at her with only rage emitting through his eyes and his entire being.
"How dare you slap me? How. Dare. You?" He punctuates each word, his voice intense enough to make goosebumps erupt over Nandini's entire body.
Yet, she holds her ground. "I dare because you deserve it."
Although she feels herself shaking because of fear from how close Vikrant is standing and how intensely he is staring at her, she fists her hands to control the tremor and takes deep breaths to lessen her fear.
"Apologize right now. Because if you don't, you have no idea how bad the consequences will be for you," Vikrant says through gritted teeth.
"Oh! You want me to say sorry?" Nandini asks and lets out a wry smirk. "Of course, I will say sorry, Mr. Vikrant Sisodiya."
She folds her arms over her chest and stares intensely at Vikrant.
"I'm sorry I got tied to this marriage with a pompous, arrogant jerk like you who has no regard for others' feelings.
"I'm sorry you are such an insufferable prick who can't leave me and my relations alone even after telling me you want nothing to do with me.
"I'm really sorry that you are such a horrible person who can't see anything else beyond your prejudiced opinions, assumptions, and judgments.
"There, I said sorry for all the things for which I truly am sorry. I hope that's enough for you."
She unfolds her arms and steps closer to him.
"This is the last time I'm telling you, Mr. Vikrant Sisodiya. Stay away from me and never interfere in my matters," she says. "What do you know about me, huh? What do you know about everything I faced growing up? What do you know about my life and struggles?" She asks and sighs deeply when Vikrant only glares at her, not replying to her questions.
"You don't know anything, Vikrant. And I would like it to stay this way. Do you know why? Because you don't deserve to know anything about me, and I won't ever give you the right to do so or let you in. So, Just. Stay. Away." Nandini finishes speaking and walks out of the room, leaving a fuming Vikrant behind.
