Chapter 40

"Marchetti?"

It's been 2 hours since Caleb left with no word. I'm growing more and more worried by the second thinking about the results of this problem. His mothers right he is strong he will get through this for us all he has a strong team behind him ready to fight for him any second which shows how loyal they're to one another.

Me and his mother sat by the fire all night waiting for some sort of indication from one of them. You could tell she was worried every minute that went by but she played it off well.

She had made sure I was warm and not hungry or dehydrated and nice and comfy asking me questions most of the time. I think she done this to try and change the subject while we wait.

"I have one of our trained doctors coming by in a bit to check you over if that's okay", she asks looking over at me. "I'm totally fine I wasn't hurt", i reply. "I know I just want to make sure everything alright it's a mother thing", she says slightly laughing.

"I wouldn't know", i reply smiling. "I'm sorry aria to be nosey trust me I'm just trying to get to know you more, what is it your parents do enzo seemed to never mention them"? She asks. "I actually didn't live much with them", i say. "I mostly stayed with my grandma when I was younger then when she died I stayed with someone else for a little while", i reply.

"I'm sorry", she says. "No no it's fine don't worry about it your just trying to get to know me more", i say. "So are you excited about the new house have you decided which rooms the biggest for you", she says as I laugh. "I have yes the biggest the best", i say smiling back as her phone rings.

"It's Caleb", she says answering the call. "Everything alright"? She asks looking worried. "Wait wait what okay okay we will come right away stay with them both", she says ending the call before shouting over for enzos father.

"What's happened"? I ask getting worried as his father appears. "Both enzo and santi have been shot and are unconscious we have to go now to see them they've taken them to the hospital grab your keys", she says as my eyes water.

"What", i say as she pulls me along to the door.

It didn't take us long to get to the hospital. Enzos father was driving double the speed limit as both me and his mother held on. We got there before rushing to the front desk asking for the floor and room they were in receiving directions.

As we walked to the floor we saw Caleb and Lexi sat on some chairs with a few other men not far behind on stood up. "Lexi"? I say rushing over as she pulls me in for a hug. "Where is he is he okay please tell me he's going to be okay", i say as she interrupts. "They've both been taken into immediate surgery", she replies as Caleb stands to talk to his parents.

"What where was he shot who shot him did they escape"? I say as she tries to calm me down. "He was shot in the chest they've taken him in for an operation to take both the bullet out along with stopping the bleeding", she replies. "He was bleeding so much ari", she says pulling me in for a hug.

"This is all because of me", i say wiping the tears off my cheeks. "Don't you dare say that none of this is because of you okay do you hear me he's going to be okay", she says. "I want to see him", i say as she shakes her head. "You'll be able to after his surgery I promise but he'll have people and doctors coming in and needing to do checks a lot so I can't give a specific time", she replies.

"What about santi is he okay"? I ask. "He was shot twice one in the shoulder one in the leg", she replies. "His wounds just grazed he was lucky he's in surgery so they can remove the bullets and stitch him up he'll be out theatre soon but he'll be on anaesthetic so it's hard to say when he'll wake up.

"What about enzo"? I ask. "Enzos surgery will take longer same with his anaesthetic time so it'll be a bit of a wait before we can say for sure that he'll wake", she says as a nurse appears.

"Marchetti"? She asks as everyone turns to look at her. "Yes"? His father says. "We are still operating on both Santiago and Lorenzo there's no specific time yet that I can provide an accurate time as to when either of them will come out of theatre.

"We hope to have Santiago out in the next couple of hours but there isn't a time yet for Lorenzo", she says. "Sorry can I ask your relation to them both"? She asks as everyone speaks up being interrupted by his mother.

"We are Lorenzos parents and she's his partner the rest are his cousins including Santiago", she says as the nurse nods. "Could I take 2 of you for a deeper conversation about lorenzo"? She asks as his mother nods. "Aria, come on dear", she says looking over at me.

The nurse takes us both to a private room close by with some documents. "I'd just like you to provide some information and contact details before we start as we won't be aloud to keep all of you in the hospital at once due to the exceeding amount".

"No no that's okay I get it just information about Lorenzo or both"? She asks. "Just Lorenzo will be fine and a number down at the bottom so we can contact you quicker", she says.

"Is he going to be okay"? I ask. "It's hard to tell right now he hasn't been in their long but so far nothing bad has happened he's in good hands so with a bit of luck and time he should be okay and back on his feet soon", she says.

"The wound in his chest is deep and he had lost a large amount of blood", she says. "If the bullet had gone another 3cm to the left it would have hit his heart taking him out instantly", she says. "I'd say he's very lucky but I want to go over some things that may occur".

"So the anaesthetic we've but him under is a lot strong than Santiago's so after surgery he'll be out a bit longer". "There's a small chance that due to the amount of blood loss that he could go into a short term coma".
