Wednesday needed an outlet. The second she returned to her room, she grabbed her cello and the first piece of sheet music she could find - some piece composed by Bach, Wednesday didn't care to look.

With the help of Thing, Wednesday moved her setup to the balcony so as not to disturb Enid, if she ended up coming back to their room. The spunky werewolf had quickly left straight after class mentioning something about Ajax on her way out. Wednesday was in no mood to care to remember where her roommate was going.

Thing perched himself on the music stand, ready to turn the pages as Wednesday played. Without any talking or preamble, Wednesday grabbed her bow and let the music take over. Her brain had been in so much turmoil the last few weeks, and she just needed some time where she didn't have to think about what she was doing. She let her muscle memory take over and forgot about the rest of the world. Wednesday's eyes looked at the papers in front of her without even really seeing them - she didn't need it anyways, she knew this piece without them.

Her body swayed back and forth in time with the music, and her fingers flew over the strings. She had no concern for how loudly she was playing; she was sure that if anyone was listening they wouldn't mind. Not that she cared if they did mind in the first place.

As Wednesday's playing came to a crescendo, she closed her eyes and blocked out the world around her. She blocked out the thoughts that had been nagging her for weeks. She blocked out the emotions that she didn't understand and didn't want to deal with. She became one with the instrument and focused on the sounds. She let her bow slide slowly over the last note, holding it out as long as she could before she came crashing back to reality. Wednesday slowly opened her eyes.

Thing gestured to her in what could have been a shrug.

"No, I don't really feel any better." That was thing with music, Wednesday thought. Once it was over, there was nothing left to distract from what she had been trying to avoid in the first place.

"Well, it sounded great to me."

Wednesday whirled around, eyes wide but unblinking, to the dark corner of the balcony. She saw a figure step forward sheepishly, hands in his pockets and his face showing his signature lopsided grin. Tyler.

"How did you get up here? I know you're not allowed to come in through the doors." Wednesday turned her nose up ever so slightly to be looking down at where Tyler was now standing a few feet away from her. Behind her, Thing silently crawled down the music stand and made himself scarce.

Tyler gestured to the wall behind him. "You've got some pretty strong vines growing up the side of your building. I heard you playing, and I just had to come see you."

Wednesday turned back around to gently replace her cello in its case. "You're lucky I don't call security for breaking and entering."

She could sense Tyler's smirk from the way he replied, "Look who's talking. I'm pretty sure my dad is still holding a grudge about the incident at the morgue."

"It needed to be done," Wednesday deadpanned.

A few moments of silence passed as Wednesday gathered her things. Before she could take them back in, however, she heard Tyler's voice again, less confident than before.

"The real reason I'm here is because I just needed to say thank you for what you did today."
