In which Wednesday is sick but too stubborn to admit it. Unfortunately, she can't hide it forever.
Trigger warning: violence and mention of blood
___________________________________________________________Wednesday Addams didn't get sick. At least, that's what the girl kept telling herself as she went through the motions of paying attention in class and taking care of the bees with Eugene. In reality, the raven-haired teen could barely walk straight. She had no idea how or when she had started feeling under the weather, but she managed to maintain her normal disposition until this morning when she got out of bed and the room started spinning. Thing had attempted to convince her to stay in her room or see the nurse, but Wednesday Addams didn't get sick. She didn't need help or pity.
So, here she was, leaning heavily on a bee hive trying to get her tunnel vision under control while surrounded by insects whose buzzing was starting to sound more and more echoed by the second. She allowed her eyes to close briefly while she took a few deep breaths.
She wasn't sure how long she had been standing like that, but by the sound of Eugene's voice when he shouted, "Wednesday!" the girl could assume that he'd been trying to get her attention for several minutes.
Wednesday turned to face her fellow hummer and inwardly cringed at the concern that she saw in his eyes. "Are you okay? You've been checking on Hive 4 for like 10 minutes."
The girl glanced back to the hive that she had been leaned against. "I'm fine. I just thought I noticed some quarreling between some of the hive's newcomers."
"I don't know, Wednesday, you don't look so good." Wednesday couldn't hide her eye roll. This was why she never told people when she wasn't well. She couldn't stand the concern and sympathy. Weak emotions for weak people.
Wednesday huffed before responding, "I'm fine, Eugene. I would keep an eye on this hive if I were you. I need to get back to my room before Enid starts another one of her dance parties." With that, Wednesday entered the small club house space, shrugged off her protective gear, and walked back toward Nevermore's main campus in what she hoped was a straight line.
___________________________________________________________Wednesday knew she was too late to completely put a stop to any of Enid's partying when she heard the pop music playing from down the hall. She took a fortifying breath before entering the room, her head pounding from the brisk walk back from the hives.
"Wednesday!" The blonde exclaimed as her roommate entered and immediately crossed into her side of the room. "You're just in time, I'm just warming up my dance moves."
Wednesday's brain was almost too fogged to properly filter what she wanted to say about Enid's dance moves and what she could do with them. "Lucky me," she managed to bite out. She unceremoniously dropped her book bag at the foot of her bed before sitting down at her desk and putting her head in her hands. There was no way she would get any worthwhile writing done feeling like this, but it was her writing time and Enid would be expecting the click-clacks of the typewriter.
The goth fed a new sheet of paper into her machine and began typing anything she could think of. She knew that she wouldn't be able to think of anything beneficial for her latest novel, but hopefully Enid would get the hint and leave her alone.
Unfortunately for Wednesday, that hope was short-lived as she heard peppy footsteps bouncing up behind her. "You know, Wednesday, one of these days you're going to join my dance parties and you'll see what all the fuss is about." Wednesday didn't look up from where she was currently focused on her fingers, but she could feel Enid's confusion radiating off of her. "Um, not to be rude, but none of what you just wrote makes any sense."
