Heart of Mine
"Goddamn it.." you mumbled under your breath as you took off the saddle from your horse, bringing your belongings into the lobby of the inn you were staying at.
You took care of the artifact you had found with your geo specialist friend a day ago and kept it safely in your brown leather satchel, hiding it from anyone who could compromise your reward money.
"Goodnight to you, miss!"
You turned around and planted a kind smile to the innkeeper, "Thank you, goodnight to you too, of course."
She gave you her full attention now that you responded to her, and you saw her emerald green eyes shine happily to you as she pulled her long black hair back into a low loose ponytail. "Keep safe, it's supposed to rain very badly today.. I'll be here if you need me for anything!"
"And I'm grateful for that," you shrugged off, not thinking much about it, as you picked up your pace and skipped every 2 steps on the staircase.
Your consciousness tugged at your peace of mind and you sighed, looking back down the stairs, "Thank you for the information, I'll be here if you need me too."
You didn't know if she heard you, and you didnt stay long enough to figure it out.
Once you went into your small room, you spread your map on the only table there. "Goddamn it." You whispered again, taking a thick black charcoal pencil and drawing a dark x in the far right of a forest.
You looked over all the other x's on the forest and the forests surrounding it, the crease in your eyebrows becoming more stiff as you glared down at your map.
How long had it been? 2 months? 3? Whatever it was, it had been more than what you wanted, and you had to find that man you found a while ago.
He helped you from the rain.
He sheltered you and your horse from the cold.
He saved you from death.
And you?
You spoke to the dead?
It didn't make any sense! You had to go see that same house and understand what exactly you saw.
But you weren't having any luck finding that house again, you searched all over that forest and ones near it. You've tried to get lost, or tried riding late at night, but it hasn't given you any luck. You just can't find that pink haired man.
Before you could catch yourself, you started to zone out, thinking yet again about how you stumbled on the house.
That night it was raining, and it was cold, and you were desperate to get out of that situation.
It's supposed to rain..
You looked back at your map, all ashy and tainted from the marker, and then you looked outside hoping to find darkened clouds. Without second thought, you grabbed your belongings and went outside to the stables.
"Leaving so soon? It's supposed to rain-" The innkeeper called out as she gave you your saddle.
"I know," You whispered, suddenly having a burst of energy as you prepared your horse and mounted. "That's what I'm counting on." And with that you dug your heels onto his side and rode off the direction that you've gone countless times already.
After a while, just when you entered the forest, you slowed down your pace to a trot.
You tried to check off the similarities of your situation now, to back then.
