Along For The Ride

Chapter 2

I opened up the loft doors and sat against a stack of hay. I smiled and watched as the sun slowly came up. "this is the start to an amazing summer" I whispered to myself. It was quickly ruined though. SLAM!

I winced as my dads car door slammed shut and he drove off to the main barns. I sighed and stood up closing the loft door. I walked over too the ladder and climbed down, I was greeted with a few Winnie's and a few snorts from the horses in the barn. "hi starburst!" I called to my moms old mare. She blew out some air and nuzzled me, making me laugh.

My phone started ringing, I smiled as I listened to Tornado by Little Big Town. I hummed the first virus, while digging my phone out of my pocket. "sup", my best friend Kat asked. "nothin much u" I said "wanna go rideing today? I'll bring Champion over."she stated more than asked, I smiled "sure see you in 10? " I asked.

She lived right down the road about 5min away. "sure bye" s he stated before hanging up.

I smiled and walked to the pasture next too the barn,raising my hand too my mouth I whistled. My old gelding Scout stuck his head out of the trees and slowly trotted over. I opened the gate and put his lead rope on,walking too the barn. Once we were in I put him in the cross ties and started brushing his chestnut coat. After I was done I saddled him up in my old western saddle, just in time to see Kat riding up on her Black Arabian stallion Champion.

"Hurry up!" she yelled from Champ making his head snap up in a watchful stance. i laughed at the look that he had on his face and swung up into the saddle. adjusting myself i snaped the ties and troted over too them.

"OMG i havent seen you in forevr!!!!" she exclaimed i laughed t her, "Kat i saw you yestetrday!" i replied. "That was like 20 hours ago!!!!!" i rolled my eyes. "which trail do u want to take? all im gonna say is it needs to be really long so i can get away from mom and dad." she looked at me with sympathy "Ava, itll all work out, dont worry how about mountain Hegits?" she asked. i smiled slightly at the thought of rideing on our old favrotie pasttime. "Sure, race you too the woods!" i yelled, galloping towards the wood laughing as she followed close behind.
