Chapter VII
Hot chocolate and gossip

We were going to stay a little longer in Paris since we heard nothing about Hassan. But I can't complain about it, Paris was such a beautiful city, and being here gave me the opportunity to visit it. It was like a day off, or two.

I was in my room, at the base this time, sitting on my bed, doing my makeup, when I heard a knock at the door.

"Come in."

I looked to it, watching Soap walking in, wearing casual clothes. He grabbed the chair from the desk, sitting on it next to my bed.

"So?" He asked, looking at me.

"So?" I repeated, confused by his sudden, unfinished question.

"What happened with you and Alejandro back to the party, when it wasn't safe for you to pass anymore?"

"What do you mean? We waited in the car." I responded, looking back in the hand mirror, trying to avoid his glare.

"I wasnt born yesterday, BB. Is there anything between you too?"

"Soap, what the hell do you want?" I asked, looking back in the mirror, continuing to blend my eyeshadow.

"BB, we are friends, and friends gossip, right?"

"Friends is a strong word, but thats right."

"And I want to gossip about you two."

"You can't gossip about a group of people, with one of them. But I get what you mean."

"I know for a fact Alejandro is into you. I watched him, we all did."

"I'm one hundred percent sure he isn't into me romantically."

"And me, Ghost and Rodolfo are one thousand percent sure he is."

"Let's say thats true, although I doubt it."

"Fucking hell have you seen the way he looks at you?"

"How does he look at me?"

"Like youre a fucking Goddess!"

I let the brush down, looking back at him, remaining silent for a moment. I didnt know what to say back to that.

"Do you like him?"

"I do." I let out a light sigh. "But romance isn't part of my job. As soon as we capture Hassan Ill be back in London. This wont work anyway."

"Of course this can work, BB. You can visit each other everytime you have days off."

"Soap...thats not how you keep a relationship. It takes more than a visit once at a few months. So I rather not hurt both of us like that."

He looked at me, his expression saddening. I felt sad too, but I was right. I needed to go back to London after this mission. Thats where my family is, my base, my home. I wished it was that easy to just visit him and talk to the phone with him. But it doesn't work like this. It never work like this.
