Chapter XX
Christmas nightThe flight was rough. I wanted to call Alejandro and tell him I couldn't wait to see him and hug him tightly, but I couldn't. I needed to wait a little longer.
Rodolfo waited for me and picked me up with his car and drove me to his house, where his mother was waiting. She knew about me, Rodolfo needed somehow to tell someone the secret, so his mom was the best pick.
"He's gonna be so happy." He said, smiling as he parked the car in the garage.
"I'm so excited myself. You have no idea how much I wanted to see him."
"I can only imagine. It's alright, tomorrow evening you can meet him. Just be patient."
I nodded and left the car, followed by him. His mother was waiting for us in front of the house, hugging him firstly, then me as well. She looked exactly like in the photo Alejandro had in his room. Nothing had changed.
"Tu debes ser la novia de Alejandro." She said, gently caressing my head, smiling brightly.
I nodded, smiling as well. Being welcomed with such a warm smile and hug made me feel happy. Made me feel like I belinged here. Which I did. I belonged here more than in London, with mo doubt.
"Entra querida, déjame mostrarte tu habitación."
She grabbed my hand, walking me inside. The room wasn't big, but was beautifully decorated, and clean. Her whole house was beautiful, so cozy and welcoming.
"Debes tener hambre después de un vuelo tan largo. Vamos a cenar, hice algo de comida para ti querida"
She was talking fast, which made me think she was somehow nervous. I couldynt understand anything of what she said, which made me turn to Rodolfo. He just smiled, shaking his head.
"She made us food."
"Ohh... I'd love to eat something. Im starving." I said, chuckling lightly.
"Ella tiene hambre. Vamos a comer."
"¿No puede entender español?"
"No hablo bien español." I responded, which just made her smile and nod.
She grabbed my hand again, pulling me after her, leading me to the kitchen.
Her food was amazing. She was definitely a good cook. It was spicy and so flavored, I don't think I've ever ate such good food. And she wasn't stingy either. She kept filling my plate until I just could eat anything anymore.
"Thank you for letting me stay here, Rodolfo, you're a real life saver."
He chuckled, shaking his head.
"Everything for Alejandro. He's like my brother, mi hermano."
"For how long have you been friends?"
"For twenty years. We signed up together. He was, and still is the toughest dude in the regiment."
"Wow...20 years? Thats quite some time man."
