"Celina! Hurry up! MOM SAYS YOU'RE GONNA BE LATEEEEE!!!!" my sister Bridget screamed from downstairs.

"I'm coming!" I called back, brushing my smooth blonde hair. The first day of school was important. I needed to make a good first impression, especially for all the cute guys returning from summer.

I walked downstairs and called to Mom that I was ready. On the way to school, I asked, "Mom, how was your first day of high school?"

Mom switched lanes and glanced at me. "Well, I was basically scared out of my wits!" she admitted. "I was so nervous I almost fell on my way to all my classes!"

"Really?" This was shocking. Mom? The smoothest, most sophisticated woman in town?

"Yup." she smiled guiltily. "But I lost my fear, and many things happened that year that I'll never forget. Ninth grade will be interesting, Celina. I don't know how, but every year people say ninth grade was never boring. There's always something." Mom parked the car and patted my shoulder. "Have faith, sweetie. Have a great day."

"Thanks Mom," I smiled and got out of the car.

Walking into the big brick building, I looked around. The floors were polished and the ceilings were covered with bright lights that lit up the hall.

"Some school, huh?" a voice said behind me.

I whirled. "Ben?"

"Hey, Cel." he smiled and winked. "How was your summer?"

Ben was by far one of the cutest boys in our grade. With his shaggy dirty blond hair and hazel eyes, I had a major crush on him, but only my best friends, Lily and Jasmine knew that.

"It was ok. What about yours?" He called me Cel. He called me Cel!

"Pretty good," he shrugged. "And now, here we are," he gestured to the hall. "All the ninth graders are in the auditorium. Wanna go find seats?"

Seats? As in sit together? Um, let's see...

"Sure," I said, trying to force down my blush.

We walked into the grand auditorium and looked around.

"Cel! Celina! Over here!" Lily called from up front. She was with a couple of other kids, mostly my friends and a few that I'd seen before with Ben.

Ben and I grinned at each other and raced to the rest of the kids.

"Lily!" I smiled, giving my best friend a huge hug. "I've missed you!"

"Missed ya more!" Lily said pulling away.
