I sat on the steps outside of the school waiting for Lily. Her locker was far from the entrance so she would take a while. I sighed. Not that I minded too much. This gave me more time to think about my handsome blue-eyed Prince Charming. Or rather, Prince...

Blake?!

Standing, I saw Blake sitting at a bench a couple of yards away. But now, he wasn't the smiling, happy kid I'd met yesterday. He seemed kinda...put down. I gathered my bag and walked cautiously towards him.

A few feet away, I froze. What was I doing? This was Blake. A...boy. One I'd just met yesterday, too. How was I supposed to talk to him?

My gut told me to try it. My reason told me I was stupid.

Oh well.

"Hey, Blake?" I said tentatively.

He looked up. "Hey, Celina," he tried to smile, but his eyes were still sad.

"May I sit?"

"Of course." He gestured to the empty space and I gingerly sat.

"Is everything...ok?" I asked carefully.

"Well...no, not really," he admitted sheepishly, running his hand through his hair.

"Wanna talk about it?" I offered.

"Well, there's this girl, Harmony Redd, in my homeroom..."

I felt a pang. So he likes someone else. Okay. No biggie. Right?

"And, well she's new here, like me. And I tried talking to her today, you know, to be nice? But she blew me off. Like literally yelled at me to stay away. I don't see what I did wrong." He paused, remembering. "She seemed...kinda eager to get away from me."

"Wow," I said, not believing any girl would blow off such a cute, cute, guy...

Okay. Back to focus.

"That's awful," I said.

"Am I that unlikeable? Do you dislike me too, Celina?" he looked at me intently, and my heart skipped a beat. He was asking for my opinion?

Whether I liked him or not?

"I think you're great," I assured him, then wanted to kick myself. Great? You don't just tell a guy he was great, Cel.

"Really?" he said.

"Absolutely," I nodded.

Without warning, he threw his arms around me. I hugged him back, my heart pounding.

"Thanks, Cel. Made my day. So I'm not actually some horrible guy, huh?" His smile was back.

"Anytime, and nah," I said, spotting Lily on the steps. I got up and stretched. "I have to go, ok? See you tomorrow?"

"Yeah, bye." He waved.

I met Lily on the steps. "Ready to go?" I asked.

"Yup, hey Cel?" she looked past me. "Woah, who was that?"

My cheeks burned. Oops.

"Oh that? That was just Blake. Just a guy I met earlier."

Lily raised her brows in disbelief, then she smiled, "He's hot. I didn't know you

were on the search, Cel. I would've helped," she poked me teasingly. Then she lowered her voice, "You know, since Blake is all over Gina now," she rolled her eyes.

My heart stopped, "He is?" I screeched. "So are they, wait, you, what-"

"Relax, they aren't like that," she said swiftly. "Not dating. But you can tell Gina

is keeping her eyes open. For him, that is."

"Yeah," I grumbled. "You sure can."

"Oh, come on Grumpy Face, I need to stop by the library. History project," she explained, miming cutting her throat. "Help me?"

I agreed, only half paying attention as she pulled me along.

We walked down the steps, me trying to ignore the rush of disappointment flooding me. that I barely acknowledged the dirty blond, hazel eyed boy watching me carefully from afar.
