Sequoia woke up with a slight headache and her whole body feeling like she had just been ran over and then backed over by a huge truck. Despite this, she slowly opened her eyes only to immediately be blinded by light. She instantly let out a deep groan, turning her head to the side, her eyes shut tightly in pain. For a moment or two, she kept her eyes closed, enjoying the protection of darkness that her eyelids provided.
Cautiously she reopened them, squinting this time, and was completely relieved when her eyes were not hit full on again by bright light. Once her eyes fully adjusted to the comfort of the soft lighting overhead, Sequoia look around her with a note of curiosity, finding herself in a beautifully decorated bedroom.
'Where in the heck was she?" She wondered as she looked about the large bedroom, taking in the elegant and expensive looking pieces of furniture that lined each corner of the expansive room.
As Sequoia looked around her, she couldn't help feeling a sense of wonder. She felt like she was in a room designed for royalty. There were two elegantly carved wood topped bedside tables flanking both sides of the four postered king size cherry wood bed she laid in with its lavishly carved headboard. Each bedside table had been topped by an ornately designed lamp.
A huge six-drawer solid cherry wood chest with a beautiful landscape mirror graced one wall next to what looked like double doors leading into a walk-in closet. On another wall, she saw led towards an ensuite bathroom. The double doors leading into it were partially open and she could clearly see marble tiled flooring. Next to it was a small makeup table with a mirror and a small chair. An assortment of hair and makeup products lined its surface.
There was an unlit stoneface fireplace with a granite mantle opposite the bed, with two high back upholstered wing chairs facing it. The mantle was lined with various books and small carved sculptures. A small pedestal table with a vase full of fresh flowers, sat between both of the wing chairs. The stained hardwood floors of the room had been covered with two large light-colored patterned area rugs. Each of the four beige colored walls had been adorned with expensive looking tapestries and unique paintings.
Sequoia finally turned her head cautiously towards the offensive window that had nearly blinded her earlier and saw that it was not actually a window at all but a whole panel of panoramic windows, which wrapped the whole side. One of those windows panels had been left open and a steady breeze from outside fluttered the dark curtains that hung over them. Sequoia could clearly see rooftops of buildings when the wind parted them, the sun shining high in the partly cloudy sky above.
Sequoia noticed that she laid in the center of the extremely large bed. Someone had changed her into a beautiful satin pink pajama set and covered her underneath a soft and very beautifully patterned white comforter. Her head was resting against a small nest of air soft pillows while her left ankle, partially covered by the comforter at the foot of the bed, had been carefully wrapped in an ace bandage and propped up on a huge pillow.
She was still trying to figure out where she was and how she had gotten there when the bedroom door across the room opened and in walked a tall, beautiful woman holding a loaded tray in her hands. The jet black-haired woman was dressed in a pair of black slacks, low heeled black shoes, a white blouse and was wearing a white doctor's coat with a stethoscope around her neck which was partially covered by her long flowing hair.
"Ah... Good Morning Sequoia. You have finally woken up. How are you feeling?" The beautiful doctor asked, a bright smile plastered on her face noticing Sequoia's open-eyed stare.
Holding the tray she carried with one hand, she paused long enough to close the door firmly behind her. Turning towards Sequoia, she approached the bed. Sequoia immediately tried to sit up and prop herself up against the soft pillows that had been piled behind her, but she must have tried to sit up too fast because when she did her world instantly started to spin and she felt a sharp pulling at her side. She immediately grabbed for her head which hurt the worst and felt the band aid that had been placed along her hairline.
