Chapter Four
The wolves were quickly herded back to Emily's house by Sam. He was the one who had to make the decisions that included Artemis. He knew what Paul was feeling with the new imprint and he also knew the feeling the other wolves had when it came to vampires.
The thing about the wolves was that imprints were sacred and chosen by their ancestors. Sam would never force one away from their imprint because of what they were. Sam didn't necessarily have any love for vampires in general or even the Cullens.
But he respected the doctor. He knew the stories of Carlisle helping the shifters from years ago. He was the only one who could help them due to the fact he knew what they were. How fast their bodies healed and changed.
He knew that Carlisle had helped keep everyone of the Cullen coven in line and away from the shifters of La Push out of respect for the treaty he had signed decades ago.
Sam shuttered to think about how this was about to blow up in his face. Many of the wolves hated the Cullens because of what they were, Jacob hated them for personal reasons. That meant Embry was going to be on his side no matter what.
Jared being the only wolf besides himself to imprint would understand and stick with Sam on whatever he decided. Seth never judged the Cullens and thought they were cool which mostly annoyed Sam but right now he had never been more grateful for the young wolf.
Leah hated vampires with a passion and blamed them for her fathers death. She would blow up when Sam told them of his decision. Quill would go along with Sam because Sam was the alpha and therefore the boss in a sense.
Paul was nervous, something he hadn't been in a long time. He was worried how everyone was going to react to him imprinting on Artemis. Paul himself didn't know how to feel when it came to the imprint.
He wondered if he should be upset because if he should he's not. He's not going to apologize for imprinting on a vampire. Because why should he? If Sam and Jared don't have to apologize for imprinting, why should he?
Sam had a long term girlfriend he left in the dust for just a second of Emily's time. Jared never looked Kim's way until he imprinted on her.
Paul wasn't going to apologize for Artemis, or the imprint, or whatever this brings. Because he didn't choose to imprint and he wasn't going to deny it and want it changed. He couldn't if he wanted to, which he doesn't.
Paul kept his head down as he followed Sam into Emily's house. He could feel the stares burning holes into his back. The first family he was ever a part of and it may be washed away because of who he imprinted on.
If they have such a problem with it and who he imprinted on maybe they weren't much of a family, Paul thought bitterly. He didn't want to think like that because he loved them, there his brothers. But he was preparing himself for the worst because life had never given him an inch of happiness that it didn't take away.
