Chapter Seven
Artemis pulled on a black crop top and some black jeans, she slipped a white cardigan over her crop top. Her hair was placed in a braid down her back. Artemis leaned against the wall as she slipped on her black louis vuitton heeled boots. They were ankle length red bottoms.
Artemis sighed, this was one of the better outfits she had brought with her from New York. She didn't know how long she would be here but she had assumed she would only be here a week or two before she was packing back up the more casual outfits she had brought.
Seeing as the week or two had already gone by and not a peep from the newborn army or where they may be, Artemis had sent for her things. One of the vampires in New York she had under lock and key.
One thing about the vampire race was that all of them would do anything just to get into Artemis's good graces. Kill, die, and sacrifice for the vampire just to have a favor after twenty or more years of groveling.
Of course Artemis' compulsion helped more when she dealt with a human or a werewolf. She didn't use it much, it made her feel like a monster. Taking away someone's rights wasn't something Artemis wanted, she had that happen to her before, but it did come in handy. Especially with feeding before she knew of the animal diet.
She honestly hated the taste of the animals and her very biology made it possible for her to feed on a human without killing or turning them. Artemis had adopted the diet simply because it made everything easier for those around her. Like Esme who had the hardest time trying to control her blood lust.
Jasper who struggled to this day with human blood. Artemis had placed him as the most controlled vampire she ever met. Of course there were slip ups but feeling not only your own blood lust but everyone else's and staying in control took lots of control on his part.
Artemis knew the others never thought about that before. Most just chalked it up to being new at the whole animal diet, but she knew and maybe that was enough.
Artemis walked from her room and down the stairs. She saw Emmett and Rosalie waiting for her at the bottom of the stairs both with smiles on their faces. Emmett turned when she got to the bottom and held his arm out for her. Artemis rolled her eyes but slipped her arm through his, Rosalie doing the same on the other side.
"My two favorite people in the whole wide world." Emmett stated, adding on an accent. It reminded Artemis of the one he had when he first arrived. A southern drawl as one would call it.
"Let's go." Rosalie rolled her eyes as she pulled the two with her to Emmett's jeep. It did take too long for them to arrive at the school, at least with Emmett driving like a madman.
"Ready?" Emmett asked, his face full of worry. Artemis breathed in and smiled at him to ease his worries. It didn't work.
"Yeah." Artemis nodded with her words, almost trying to convince herself that she's ready. The truth? She wasn't.
