Chapter One
Artemis sat on the wooden rocking chair on the balcony. She had tea in her hand as she stared out at the morning traffic. She smiled as she took a sip. It warmed her cold body. Artemis' hair was braided down her back.
Her legs were crossed as she sat there. She scrunched his nose up at the smell coming from the streets. New York. She loved New York and all the bright lights. The city that never slept, it was good for a vampire. Good for Artemis seeing as she didn't need to sleep. Though she could.
One of the few good things that come with being the oldest vampire in existence. The vampire that from her all other vampires were born. Eating and sleeping were always good and helped her control her blood lust. But over the years even that was just a habit. Being over a hundred thousand years old did wonders for her bloodlust and control.
Over the years she had to find things to live for. And most of the time the things kept getting boring.
Artemis stood and fixed her dress, it was designer. Emmett had gotten it for her last birthday. Well the day she chose. It was hard to tell with all the different calendars she had gone through.
She opened the glass door and walked in. She picked up her buzzing phone off of her nightside table. She looked at the caller id. It was Emmett making Artemis smile. She hadn't seen him and Rose in a few months, they had visited when they left Forks for six months.
They had recently returned but their first stop had been Artemis, they didn't stay long due to Rose's hate and trauma the city held. It had been sixteen months since she left and that long since she had seen the rest of her family.
They always hated cities much preferring to stay near the woods. And Carlilse had been called to Alaska by the Denali's.
"Hello brother of mine." Artemis answered in a singsong tone. A bright smile playing on her face.
"We need your help." Were the first words out of Emmett's mouth. They were rushed and somewhat panicked.
"What happened?" Artemis asked quickly, placing her tea down on the table. "Is everyone okay?"
"Yeah, everyone's fine. We have a problem. There's a new born army turning in Seattle and we can't take on a size this big. And I know you don't like Bella but if the Voltori find out about it they will have problems with the still human Bella." Emmett stated.
Artemis felt her heart drop to her stomach. "You're keeping something from me. Out with it." Artemis prompted.
"This might have to do with Victoria." Emmett stated quickly, like if you called Victoria's name she would show up. Artemis contemplated her choices but she knew she would go. She couldn't live with herself if something bad happened to her family.
"Fine. I'll be there in twenty four hours. The Voltori will have your heads if they find out about dear Isabella." Artemis stated. "And as much as they would do the world a favor getting your ugly mug out of the world's view I might just miss you." Artemis teased.
