🪷Late September, Thursday
"Is her room ready?"
Kian honestly never expected to be the one taking care of the family entity in the absence of their mother.
Now five years down the line, he's kind of accepted that role. His father is busy caring for the company, and his older brother Taran is busy caring about taking over that same company one day. Avan has been rebellious ever since the death of their mother, so that really only leaves him to take care of the family image. Even today, two hours late to both his violin lessons and tutoring, he's busy making sure his suddenly sick half-sister returns back safely from the trip to the hospital they all thought was going to be her final walk to death.
And it's funny because Kian never thought himself to be that kind of caring guy. He really isn't, actually. A perfectionist, popular asshole, maybe, but not a caring family guy like his image makes him out to be.
And his sister? Half sister? Well she's certainly someone he wouldn't want to be missing violin and tutoring for. He'd honestly, seriously much rather stare his demented Swiss music teacher in the eyes than he would want to look at his sister. But what choice does he have? If he wants to keep his family's good reputation to save his own reputation, he's going to have to care for said family as well, even if it means caring for his stupid sister too. Trust him, reputation is all a rich person truly has to lose and gain.
"Yes, sir"
In front of him, three of the household maids stand in a still, perfect line on the third floor. They are wearing the same uniforms his mother made them wear when she was still alive and well. Blue simple dress with buttons, and a beige apron, a pair of black shoes to go with it. Kian isn't the one who hired them, however he was the one who hired the head maid Mrs Kim at thirteen years of age, and the head maid was the one to hire all twenty of their rotating house staff. That includes drivers, guards, maids and even a gardener, since the outside of an estate is all an estate truly has. That's before they had to hire an extra nanny for the fourteen year old half sister who just had to move in a year later, so twenty one members of staff. Just enough for Kian to have his hands full whenever they fumble or walk around the house with nothing to do.
Kian had once hoped his sister would take over such boring duties as going to parties and taking care of the household to represent the family. He never liked her but he had hoped she would at least have been useful. That was before he realised what a hopeless case she truly is. Amaya is weak, with no sense of direction in ordering staff around, a useless conversationalist and average at everything she does in life. Not to mention that she gets all of her looks from her mother, a woman who definitely does not belong to this family, so there is no use in Amaya representing it.
