🪷Late September, Tuesday
"This village is a rainy one"
She says, looking up at the woman above her. Hands cold with the morning dew, eyes wet with tears. It's not literal rain, of what she is talking about. What she means are the tears flowing down her cheeks. Even as she wipes at them, furiously, they just keep coming. Feet digging deep into the wet moss, the fresh forest air seeping up and into their clothes.
"I don't recommend this place, is all. It rains every day, like this, because the clouds can be quite cruel"
The woman with tears is dressed in such a sunny yellow dress, with a sweet white collar and shiny brown boots. It's hard to think of her as anybody with sadness in their lives. She has a basket around her arm, one which is filled with the fresh moss she stands on. The basket seems to be self-woven, with a nice little yellow ribbon around the shaft of it. She is pretty, this girl. Even with tears running down her cheeks. Pretty as her silent cries echo in the knocking forest around them. "You're lying".
The woman can't help but look up again, even as she is embarrassed by her tears.
"What?"
"You're lying about the village. I've heard the sun shines here, brighter than anywhere else. And I've also heard it's full of beautiful women like you, who shouldn't be sitting alone with their eyes welled with tears"
The girl in yellow is quite taken by the other woman's words. Her mouth is left slightly open, and for a moment her tears stop falling. She hesitates, for a second or two, before softly wiping her tears one last time. Standing up from the lovely forest floor she can do nothing but laugh, in a manner that can only be described as quite awkward. Her hands shiver a little. They are, after all, cold from the morning dew. And when she dares a smile, the woman in front of her can't help but smile too. She can't stop herself, maybe for the first time. Making this woman in yellow smile just feels like clearing dark clouds from a sunny sky.
"Now get up, you shouldn't be sitting on the concrete with those bruises on your body"
And suddenly the girl in yellow recognises herself as Amaya. She looks down, no longer in the forest, but standing outside their school building, and pain blinds her from every corner of her body. She feels tears staining her cheeks and all of her bruises thump along with her heartbeat. Rain falls down from the sky, rather than beautiful sunlight, and the concrete gathers all the water from the sky and washes away the stains of blood pooling at her feet. Amaya looks up again, horror spreading in her mind. It feels so real, it feels like it has happened, and yet none of it makes sense.
Mars is the girl above her. And dressed in her school uniform, she smiles at Amaya with a hint of pity in her look.
"Come on, let me help you"
