act I: vii.

January 15th, 2058, morning during day 57

The Shimada comes to his consciousness and lazily rolls over in his bed towards his nightstand to grab his phone. The blinding blue light from the screen makes him blink uncontrollably and frown for a few seconds. He finally reads the time as 4:34 AM, and after a few moments of resting his eyes and doing his breathing exercises, he bounces out of bed with nothing but his boxers on. He grabs his gym wear, his hair comb, and his undergarments before shutting the door behind him in the restroom. He is quick to brush his teeth and do his business.

Genji comes out of the restroom minutes later looking refreshed and alive then scatters to find his phone and beats. He slips on his house shoes and goes to his personal gym in the residence. He completes his workout routine in less than an hour, and he returns into the house to get ready for school. He showers, puts on his school uniform, cleans up his room which is just making up his bed, packs his two backpacks, one for his studies and one for his soccer team, and makes himself a protein shake before leaving the house at about 6:20 AM.

The spiky haired boy is able to reply to his group chat with his closest friends from his soccer team as soon as he shuts his passenger car door. He leans against the car and reads out that the guys want to grab breakfast at the local coffee shop not far away from the school. Genji sends his reply that he is on his way, and he scatters into his driver's seat.

When the boy arrives, he grabs his wallet and protein shake from his front console and steps out of the car. Readjusting his jacket leisurely, he sees 6:46 AM on his phone screen. He gazes through the glass pane of the building and lands on his group of friends sitting in a booth. He holds his chin high and stands tall as he walks through the entrance with igniting confidence. His friends shift their heads and call to him out loud with glee. Pairs of eyes from other people and couples in the shop land on the sunny boy. The Shimada smiles and approaches his group to greet with side hugs, fist bumps, and shoulder taps. Genji sits in the free space beside his closest friend in the group, Masao, and he gives him a friendly pat on the back. On the opposite side, Eun sat in front of Masao while Lukas sat in front of Genji.

Lukas leans over and playfully taps Genji's shoulder, "How is Mama Shimada?"

"Same old," Genji graciously responds as he grabs a menu in the middle of the table.

"Yeah, it just sucks we didn't get to do our trip to Germany this year," Eun mentions tenderly with a frown and observes his own menu. Lukas scoffs at the boy beside him.

"Maybe if you actually said something about it, we would have done it for you, Starboy," He teases his friend whilst immediately turning to the awkward Masao and purposely smacking his hand on the table in his direction. Masao, his nose originally being in the giant menu, glances up at the boy he finds to be a nuisance at the moment.

"Speaking of Starboy, how is the prize? Ya know, Emely Rowse?" Lukas grins with a tainted smirk. Masao shrugs silently with a poker face and returns his attention to pick out his breakfast. "Oh come on, don't be like that."

"Some guys don't always wanna talk about girls first thing in the morning, my boy," Genji smartly replies to the agitating boy for his friend. Lukas places a hand on his heart. "We are not all girl crazy."

"Then tell me, Captain, what's our plan to get over the hard loss recently? We have only had our ordinary soccer practices for the past two weeks when we obviously need to spice it up," Lukas shoots back with his elbows on the table. Genji, his face still digging in the menu, eyes Lukas with no intention of replying. "Or you just don't want to admit you do not know what to do."

Genji calmly folds his menu and places it back into its original spot on the table. He timidly smiles and holds eye contact with Lukas as he drinks his protein shake, "I do not want breakfast but I appreciate your offer."
