"Why are you asking it like that in the first place…!" Helena hit his shoulder lightly.
"Ow ow…!"
He pretended to be hurt with her feather hit. That made Helena couldn't help but glare at him with her face blushing. When he saw her reaction, the man's urge of teasing her just boosted up. He put his palm on her head and patted it lightly with a laugh while Helena tried to push his hand away.
"Friends are allowed to pat one another!" He joked.
"You can't just touch someone who isn't your lover right?? Your majesty mentioned it yourself!"
"Not right now but sooner."
He said with laughter. Helena stood still looking at him in puzzlement. She didn't even know how she felt at the moment, she just stared at him with the beautiful face of hers blushing again and again. It looked like she was waiting for him to say just kidding but the man just chuckled to her face instead.
"That's not a joke." He confirmed.
"..." Helena felt her heart racing.
"I'm planning on marrying my girl best friend." A big smile showed on his face.
Not knowing the reason why, Helena felt a little disappointed. Girl best friend… she was sure she wasn't the only girl best friend he had.
When he noticed her silence, Theodore raised his eyebrows.
"What is going on in that little pretty head of yours, my lady?"
Helena shook her head without directly looking at him. It made Theodore taken aback. The atmosphere was okay a moment ago. When she kept avoiding eye contact, he held both her hands and pulled her so she would look at him.
And he was right. The elegant woman almost screamed and hurriedly looked at him in startle. She just wanted to make sure his words weren't taking its effect on her since she shouldn't be thinking about him in a different way when she was the one who wanted to be his friend herself.
"Theor…"
"What is wrong with you, my lady? You're sulking, are you not? Did I say something wrong?"
"No… there is nothing…"
"Friends should be honest with each other."
"Ah… I was just thinking about how you would have so many girl best friends… since you are friendly.."
Theodore went silent for a few seconds before replying.
"That almost makes me laugh."
Helena went into the puzzle again.
"So that's how I seem from your point of view.."
"What do you mean…"
"I won't tell you." He played with her hair while finishing his line.
"You have to get closer to me to know how I am. It is not for free."
"Stop joking around."
Helena let out an unbelievable chuckle but was stopped.
"I'm not joking. Get closer to me. My lady wants to know me better right? Or I was calculating things wrong?"
"No… that's not it… I do want to know you but I.. I.. don't know how to…"
When she started panicking, Theodore patted her head. Judging by how nice and considerate she was, she must have been worried about him getting upset and thought that she didn't actually want to be his friend. Theodore let out an invisible smirk to himself. He was just trying to lure her to get closer to him on her own but due to her pure kindness and generosity, she got a different idea.
"Don't panic just yet. I'm only kidding."
"Mm…"
"Shall we go? It's quite late."
"Yes."
"Let me drop you off."
"Ah… you don't have to!"
Helena waved her hands, rejecting him but the man insisted.
"I want to know where my girl best friend lives too."
"I'll show you later…"
"I'm worried. I made you stay until late at night. Let me do this much. Pretty please?"
"..."
"Please?"
"..."
"Please?"
"Ah okay.."
"That's it."
He patted her head and held her hand while walking towards the palace.
