(Idk where I was going with this au lol)

It was unbearably hot.

Scorching even.

Sometimes iruka really wondered why he decided to take on this job  but then again there was always something about excavating tombs, finding new artifacts and being able to discover a new piece of history that made his day.
After all, he wouldn't be an archeologist if he didn't enjoy the field work.

Though, after sitting in a jeep  with no roof for 4 hours while traveling through the Sahara desert, the heat was starting to really get to him.
He was here on a important mission, collect data on the newly discovered Tomb of Pharaoh Kakashi, also know as the king with  a thousand tricks, and find as much as he could. So far the team stationed there had found quite a lot already but iruka was an expert at being able to find the entrances of pyramids and was able to translate hieroglyphics faster then you could say mouse.

"We're almost there iruka but just so you know once we find the entrance Do. Not. Enter." Gemma said seriously as he knew that his his worker was quite known to enter any tomb without a care in the world even if there threats to his life.

"I promise I won't. This face would never lie." Iruka said with an innocent smile while earned a glare from Gemma.

"Ok! I promise, I won't you can even stand my side if you have too." The tan man added shaking his head at his his co worker clearly ente to ruin his fun.

It wasn't like iruka wasn't aware of the dangerous It's simply because iruka would get so excited about the idea of what could be in tombs that the archeologist would run off to translate hieroglyphics and forget that pyramids have traps for a reason. But thats an entirely different story.

Iruka let out a gasp of both awe and delight once he saw the grand pyramids in view, contrary to the other pyramids with a golden brown hue to them, the pyramid of king Kakashi was a white opal color, showing that Kakashi was a different king and probably wonderful and treated his people well during his reign. Of course, no one actually knew why it was white since it was made with the same material as the rest of the pyramids. Iruka practice jumped out of the car once they parked causing Gemma to grunt in amusement.

The team greeted them with warm welcomes and even looked relieved to see them both before the head leader appeared.
"I'm so glad you guys were able to make it, on such short notice as well!" Chirped Anko gazed at the two with a thrilled smile before pointing to the yellow tape that was used to keep people out.

"Just so you know, we did find the entrance but we came to a stop because there are some foreign  hieroglyphs I've never seen before and I thought iruka could find out what it says." The lady said before watching as iruka all but dashed over, pulling out his book and magnifying glass and he slowly read them symbols, a focused look on his face.
Anko wasn't wrong when she said there were foreign and it almost looked almost mayan, which didn't make any sense but before he could think about it, iruka got up and turned towards his co workers, only a few feet away from the entrance of the actual tomb. "Well, from what I was able to decipher, the tomb has a curse placed on it. If anyone chooses to enter the curse activates and supposedly kills them but if we say these words then we will avoid the curse and enter the tomb." Iruka chirped with a smile on his face however the brunette wasn't completely right in his translation. Yes, the tomb has a cursed placed but anyone who enters is perfectly safe but of you recite the words written the curse activates.
"Endless sand and heat
Dark and beautiful nights
May the sun and moon guide you through the dark abyss of the after light.
So, may your ashes remain
May your bones become one
All that is left is the crown of feathers in your wake."
