Tater Tots

I didn't even notice it in conversation until after the conversation was over, so maybe it doesn't bother me anymore. Or maybe, just Cole calling me Sav doesn't bother me?

I went to my first class of the day, walked in and sat in the second row. I got my pens out of my bag and the notes I thought I might need from the book we were given for a summer reading. It'd been so long since I'd read it at the start of summer, so I thought some notes I found online might come in handy, just to refresh my memory. The teacher walks to the front and greets the class, asking how summer went and if everyone did the reading. And I hear the classroom door open, so I glance over, expecting it to not be anyone impressive. My friends had already told me their classes, and they were all together and I was alone. Nonetheless, COLE walks in?! I knew he was in my year, but it didn't even cross my mind that we could have classes together. The teacher asks him why he's late as he walks in and looks for a desk. Cole shrugs and just says, "Bladder. Gotta go when you gotta go." The teacher sighed and simply instructed him to find a seat and plonk himself in it, and to not be late again. I look around the room to see where there are free seats, there aren't any. Then I look to the empty desk on the other side of me, and I just sigh as I see him smirk and start walking over. Right as he walks behind my seat, he bends and whispers in my ear saying, "Maybe we'll be seeing more of each other" and he sat down. I didn't look at him, I just pretended to focus on whatever the teacher was saying. Which I had completely and utterly, lost track of what he was on about. God, why is Cole such a distraction?

I took a quick side-eye glance at Cole and could see he was still smirking at me, probably quite proud of what he managed to whisper in my ear while nobody noticed. The rest of the hour, I sit thinking about that smirk, his smile, his perfect teeth. Before I know it, the bell rings. I snap out of my daydreaming as the class erupts into chatter. I  pick up my bag and start putting my things away, when I look at Cole and he's STILL SMIRKING. I wonder what smart-ass thing he's gonna say this time.

I stand up as Cole does and he says, "Day dreaming were we?"

I simply reply, "Maybe a bit."

"I bet it was about me." He laughs, starting to wind around the desks to get the door.

I catch up  and  just nudge past him and say, "No, that's just YOUR dreams."

"I daydream about myself??"

"No stupid, you daydream thinking I'm daydreaming about you. Well I wasn't, you aren't all that you think you are, dear." I said cockily.

"You better not be making fun of my darlings and dears, Sav." He says sternly, followed by a quick smile.

"I'd never do thattttt" I laugh.

"Good. Because you know you love it." Now he's the cocky one, I hear the bell ring for our next class to start and we're barely 5 steps away from our last class. In a rush I just blow a sassy kiss to him and rush off to my next lesson. God I blew a kiss, I even cringe myself out. God knows what he thinks. The rest of the day runs smoothly, I didn't even see him at the end of the day. I was kinda sad about that, but we'd already had two conversations in one day, so I'm sure it wouldn't be the last.

A few days passed and now it's Thursday, there has been no sign of Cole since Monday. I was kind of gutted by it, but oh well he'll turn up eventually. The day was pretty boring, until lunch. I decided to head to my locker to get some money, the cafeteria had tater tots and I usually just take in my own food. But tater tots, I can't resist. Randomly, Cole was sat on the floor in front of mine and his locker, he looked down but I didn't know why. I keep walking up to him and nudge him with my foot. He looks up at me startled and I say, "Sorry, you're just sort of in the way of me getting into my locker..."
