The History of The Group Chat

Introduction

​Readers, as you read this story I hope you realize that the morale of it is despite the challenges and hardships you may face, you can always overcome them with hard work and dedication. Now, our story begins on a dark stormy night on July 3rd, 2014. I, Connor, was sitting on my bed reading when suddenly, the power went out. This only served as an inconvenience, not a large issue. Only minutes later, did I feel a buzz coming from my phone. I didn't think much of it; I assumed that it was family or a friend hoping to have a conversation with me. When I picked up my phone to see who it was, I saw an unknown number. This frightened me as I was not used to having a phone yet and a text from a stranger didn't make my dilemma any easier. I was soon reassured that these must be people known to me as my good friend Lia soon responded. They all introduced themselves as being Shelby, Gwen, Brooke, Thomas, and Tyler. These people are known as the Originals.
​Shelby is considered in this story to be the wise one of the chat. She usually gives very helpful advice and tells amusing stories to soothe us when we are angry. Gwen is the kind one. She is a strong believer in second chances and a very independent thinker. Brooke, one of the important characters in our story, is known as the arguer in the chat. She uses this ability to start mature arguments but it will end with her downfall in the group chat. Thomas, a character who will appear a lot in our story, was a kind, gentle soul in the beginning but cockiness and arrogance soon got the best of him along our line of history. This has been something that he has recovered from but sadly left a scar on the group chat forever. Finally, our last character of the early group chat is Tyler. Tyler can be described as the "troll". He's not one to use appropriate language but this becomes acceptable because of the hilarious and sarcastic tone he brings to it. One secret character that I failed to mention is Dan but there will be more about him later. There will be more characters soon but for now, we'll stick with these ones.
​The first night in the group chat was one full of joyous laughter and jokes that none of us ever forgot. One such incident was when Tyler asked the names of those in the chat. They all quickly gave their names with no hesitation except for one, Lia. Lia claimed herself to be Jesus himself which greatly annoyed Tyler. Tyler responded with the vulgar expression of "Who the f*** are you?" After much arguing to figure what Lia's real identity was, she finally revealed it. The conversation didn't continue for much longer. I didn't speak at all that night as I was still nervous to say anything.
​To tell you the truth, I was excited that this would be my first group chat. I was happy that I could have something to do over the summer instead of going to my dull and boring camp. But I was foolish to think this group chat would only last a week or two. I could never fathom the horrors that I'd have to face while in this chat. If only Lia hadn't created it, then many of the large events and struggles that we would have to face in our lives would not have been a reality.
