The "Golden Age" refers to a time period in the group chat where we had complete peace and safety similar to the Pax Romana in the Roman Empire. In fact, most of the timeline of the group chat follows European historical time periods. This age was full of joyous celebration, often funny arguments, and great fun. Our conversations were short and sweet, the group chat was used as more of a stress reliever than an annoyance, and the chat was used at most, about two to three times a day. I mostly used it as a way to get away from the bothersome friends that I made in camp and go to the partially bothersome friends that I made at school.
This was a time that I sporadically texted in (something that I regret to this day). I suppose I didn't text because I found it more enjoyable to watch my friends banter. Most of our conversations consisted of random and boring talks about our days. Talks like those were rare and usually meant that everyone was tired from a conversation we had the day before. Gwen was most often the one with the strange stories. She usually spoke about something her dad said that would make us all laugh.
Thomas was the casual speaker, often asking how our days were. One thing I forgot to mention though: next to Brooke, he was the most argumentative out of all of us. Thomas and Brooke clashed heads regularly, vying for a victory in their arguments together. Dear readers, you may be asking yourselves, "Why did they argue so much?" Well, I'll tell you a little story, a story that begins with Lia. One day, Lia reluctantly told Brooke that her "boyfriend", Zach, was cheating on her. Brooke claimed she already knew and the matter was dropped as quickly as it started. But for the next few days, Thomas continuously teased Brooke about the issue. He would say that "Brooke is probably sitting at home crying and eating ice cream," or "Hey Brooke, getting fat on that ice cream yet?"
The issue escalated on the night of the Fourth of July when Thomas made fun of Brooke to her breaking point. He taunted her by repeatedly typing "ZB, ZB, ZB, ect." Brooke decided there that she had had enough of it. Using as much vulgar language as she could, she told Thomas off. Thomas apologized for his rudeness but not sincerely as he repeated ZB again until he decided that he was done for the night. Remember this, readers, as Thomas will not give up so easily next time.
