third person pov...

Finney waves a goodbye to Billy as he walks back into his house. His smile turns into a frown as he sees his dad slouching on the couch, holding a beer in his hand. The two make eye contact and Finney stands there, motionless.

"What ya' looking at boy?!" Finney's dad yells, his hand reaching for a black belt. Finney's breath is heavy, he's afraid but he can't stay silent or something bad might happen. He's not in the mood to get hit again, not ever.

Finney gulps, "N-nothing, sorry father." His dad stares at Finney for a moment then looks away, muttering a few curses. Finney then rushes towards Gwen's bedroom, not wanting anything bad to happen next.

He quietly opens the door, finding Gwen laying in her bed, a frown on her face aswell. Finney begins to worry now, hoping nothing bad happened to her. Finney lays his backpack gently near the door and then closes it. He walks near Gwen's bed and takes a seat right next to where Gwen is laying down.

"Did he, did he do anything to you?" Finney asks softly, in hopes to calm her down. Gwen sighs and sits up, She shakes her head and plays with her fingers as she looks towards the yellow carpet on her bedroom floor.

"Nothing bad, just told me to stop staring and go to my room. What about you?" Gwen looks up from the floor and looks at Finney. She hopes for the same as he did, hoping nothing bad happened.

Finney shakes his head, not wanting to worry his sister, "Nothing aswell, just telling me to stop looking at him and stuff." Gwen nods, she leans her head onto Finney's shoulder.

"You still gonna' kill me?" Gwen asks, obviously as a joke. Finney chuckles quietly not wanting to bring attention from their dad.

"Nah, not going to kill you." Finney jokes back, leaning his head onto her's as they sit in a peaceful silence. As if they were in their own little world. Soon enough, Gwen fell asleep, leaving Finney with his own thoughts. He gently lays her down in her bed, placing her blanket on top. Finney turns off the light and leaves her bedroom, closing the door quietly. He walks back to his room without getting noticed by his dad, thankfully he did not get noticed.

Finney quickly changes into his pajamas, eager to head to bed. He jumps onto his bed, letting himself melt into his warm blankets and pillows. He sighs in comfort and lays down, waiting for sleep to take over. He waits for a moment, then a thought came. How was he supposed to avoid hanging out his soulmates?
