TW: Being deadnamed (Not on purpose)
*Nia's POV*
We were shoved into two cars. Rozalina, Michelle and I in one and the boys in the other.
"Do not speak, anything you say can be used against you," one of the police officers said.
We were all handcuffed but I spotted Michelle and Rozalina trying to hold each other's hands.
We were taken to a government building and we had to stand in a row.
"Do you have any idea what you have done?" a government official asked, "Thank goodness you didn't run this time because the president would have you executed."
I gulped. I couldn't believe that this all happened because we refused to take a pill that could potentially kill us.
"We have all of your birth certificates, we just want to make sure this is you, we will know if you're lying," he said.
Another official gave him our certificates.
"Erik Bush, born 16th December 2005, parents are Daniella and Leo Bush," he said.
Erik nodded.
"Abdul Baqri, born 20th April 2006, parents are Aqsa and Hashim Baqri," he continued.
Abdul nodded.
He did the same with Michelle and Rozalina until he reached me.
"Bao Li," he said.
I cringed as he said my dead name. I forgot to change my birth certificate.
"Born on the 10th June 2006, parents are Cai and Binh Nguyen, adoptive parents are Dung and Ha Li," he continued.
I gasped. I was adopted. Why did my parents never tell me?
"We've also found these letters," an official said and passed them.
He read them and said, "Well, we know who is at fault here, Erik Bush."
We all looked around.
"Come with us," he said and they handcuffed him.
