i begged her to stay,
but all she wanted was to go,
i didn't know the words to say,
to stop her from walking out the door,
as she left, she gave me a smile,
a smile so beautiful it wounded me,
i knew i wouldn't be able to feel alive for awhile,
for the dove i had caged was spreading its wings, setting itself free.
