WHEN VACNE WOKE up that morning, his chest ached horribly, he knew why as he had ended up going to sleep with his binder on which wasn't healthy but sometimes he forgot to properly take care of himself.
His mother always gave him shit for not looking out for himself.
His mother, Laila, called, "Vance! Hurry up, you're going to be late!" Vance groaned and got out of bed, and took out a hoodie and some bell-bottom jeans, he then walked downstairs and got his bag and put on his shoes.
Laila smiled and picked up her keys before giving Vance a kiss on the cheeks before she headed off to work, Vance had some toat and then got his shoes on and walked to school.

Sitting in history was boring, Mr Walker for one talked too fast and talked too much, but then again, Vance had never really liked history, and learning about shit from the 1800s or whatever was boring.
But sitting next to Bruce, who knew too much about history, was nice-ish, Mr Walker said that Bruce should tutor Vance like almost every other teacher had said.
Vance didn't want to be tutored, that only made him feel stupid even more than he already was.
He and Bruce did end up making plans to have Bruce come over to Vance's house to help him with some of his history, science, math, langue, and other things.
Bruce didn't make Vance feel stupid for getting a question wrong, Bruce was there to help him, Vance scoffed, "I don't understand..." Bruce smiled, "That's okay, I'm here to help you, Vance, which one are you stuck on?" Vance slipped the paper that had math questions on it to Bruce and pointed at the one he was stuck on.
Bruce explained the problem to Vance with a soft smile, writing out a solution on Vance to base his answer, Bruce was different, and he was patient with Vance.

Bruce and Vance sat in Vance's living room, Vance had his sketchbook out, he had offered to draw something for Bruce, who agreed and offered to be a model for the drawing.
Vance added as many details as he could, the faint scars that Bruce had on his face, arms, and hands, the slight dimples Bruce had as he smiled, the way his eyes smiled as well, the faint wrinkles from his shut eyes when he smiled, Vance was able to include everything he could about Bruce, all his noticeable features that weren't covered by cloth.
The blond finished the drawing by shading it a little bit and then putting on his signature with a smile before taking the paper out of the book and handing it to the other boy.
Bruce looked at the drawing and it was almost scary how scarily similar to him it was.
The Yamada smiled, "It's beautiful Vance!" Vance smiled softly back, laughing softly, "Thank you, Bruce, I tried my best on it." Bruce smiled, he wanted to give Vance a hug as that was how he always showed his love and admiration, but he didn't want to make Vance uncomfortable.
As the two looked at each other, their thanks shown through their soft smiles and eyes, Vance suddenly met the same pain he had this morning, the chest pain.
Vance winced, "I have to go to the bathroom really quick Bruce, I'll be back." And then the blond headed to the bathroom and took off his hoodie, lifting his binder up enough to see a bit of his under boob which was slightly discoloured with a forming bruise, he sighed, suddenly realizing that it hurt to breathe, he pulled his binder back down, and then gave his chest a slight massage and then headed back down to Bruce, who was talking to Laila.
Vance gave a soft smile, "Hello mom, I see you have met Bruce, he's helping me with some of my school work." Laila smiled and nodded, "Well, Bruce seems very nice, maybe we should keep him around for a while, huh?" Vance didn't know why but that comment made him flush, "Mom!" Bruce laughed as he looked between the Hoppers.
Laila spoke, "Bruce it's getting dark, so you have two options, you can stay here for the night, or I can drive you home." Bruce thought, "I can stay here if both of you are okay with that! I don't want to be a burden to you!" Vance and Laila smiled, Vance spoke, "You can stay the night, I know I don't mind." Bruce nodded.
Laila kicked both boys out of the kitchen so she could cook, Bruce and Vance sat in the living room watching something on TV, until they were called for dinner.
Bruce was happy to stay the night, he did end up getting to learn more about Vance, the way his eyes would light up when someone talked about something he was interested in, and that he also loved and was scared of horror movies, and that Vance enjoyed Stephen King books, and also really enjoyed loud music and bands that greatly focused on rock n' roll, heavy metal, or sappy love songs with darker meanings.
Vance had a shower first, changing in the bathroom and putting on his binder, unironically planning to sleep with it on, Vance lay in bed, listing to the things around him the sound of water running and Bruce's soft hums, the sound of his mother drinking wine in the kitchen well on the verge of tears like most nights, it seemed like Vance was good at hearing things most wouldn't pick up on, like the sounds of couples walking past the house in the blowing midnight winds.
The blond lay on his side, hearing the bathroom door open and Bruce walked in, a towel wrapped around his waist and another towel hanging on his shoulders that Vance guessed Bruce would use for his hair.
Vance sat up and looked at Bruce in shock, "Dude! Put some clothes on before you come in here!" Bruce laughed and rubbed the back of his neck, "Sorry, I just needed some clothes..." Vance hummed, getting out of bed and walking to his closet, getting some clothes that he hoped would fit Bruce, but with Vance's naturally more feminine body, there was a high chance that they wouldn't.
Vance spoke, "Here." And he gave the clothes to Bruce who smiled and walked back into the bathroom, getting dressed, and then something to join Vance in his room.
Suddenly Vance didn't want Bruce to have to sleep on his floor, Vance said, "C'mere, get up." Bruce looked at Vance confused but joined the other in the small-ish bed, Bruce went to speak but Vance pressed a finger to Bruce's lips and spoke, "Shut up, I want to go to sleep." And then Vance wrapped his arms around Bruce, pushing his head into the other's more muscley chest and quickly fell asleep as Bruce slowly wrapped his arms around Vance's waist, pulling Vance closer to him.
Soon also finding himself locked in sleep.

Vance woke up wrapped up in Bruce's arms, he felt embarrassed he looked up slightly and saw his mom standing in the doorway looking at the two with a soft smirk, she then walked away and headed back downstairs, Vance pushed his face back into Bruce's chest and relaxed in his arms with a smile.
For some reason Bruce made him feel safe...
