Neither Aki or Angel had actually slept in a proper bed. Angel had moved to the floor, leaving Aki the couch. Even with the tension, the both of them quietly resigned themselves not to speak about anything until later. Angel was too tired to explain anything coherently, mostly babbling random nonsense until he'd passed out. It felt nice to see this side of him. Aki only ever saw him on outings with Division 4 before this. The most domestic of any of their encounters was visiting Angel in the hospital. It wasn't exactly fun though... Not that meeting Angel a bit ago was much fun either, but at least the Future Devil wasn't assaulting his senses with the vivid premonition of his death.Even with the stresses, Aki had still wanted to hold onto Angel for a little while longer, but the devil was convinced it was a bad idea.
Aki hadn't understood his concern until he woke up a few hours later. Peering over the side of the couch, he notes that Angel had managed to shift several feet away from the couch, laying splayed on the floor. The sun seeps through the apartment window, softly landing on the edges of his figure. Rubbing his eyes, Aki squints to make better sense of the scene.
Angel rolls over, laying in another strange position with his mouth open. His wings were completely limp against the floor, dragging along with his central body when he'd shifted.
"Huh..." Aki stands from the couch, leaning over his new housemate. He watches him quietly, amusing himself with this new angle. The devil had hair stuck to the corners of his mouth and his shirt had hiked up nearly to his chest.
Even though Aki wanted to watch him longer, his core hurt too much to keep bending like this. Standing up, Aki holds his own stomach, massaging the ache in his muscles for a moment. Everything inside him had been out at one point. It was a medical miracle he was even standing. Public Safety had exceptional healthcare, but even that couldn't prevent the deep running scars that littered his body.
Moving to the kitchenette, Aki checks the fridge, the familiar thoughts of planning breakfast bringing him back to a simpler time. He wanted to hear them. He wanted Power to smash her plate against the wall over green beans. He wanted Denji to be grateful for every meal despite his attitude about everything else. He wanted them in his life. Part of him needed to shake Angel awake and ask him the burning questions he'd sat on.
