Chapter 20 - New Name In School

The lady at the front desk smiled and nodded her head. She shuffled through some papers inside of the drawer below her desk until she got out a light green packet.

"Please fill this out." She handed me the green packet that had about 3 pages to fill out. I smiled and took the packet from her. I walked towards the far left of the office and sat down on one of the bright yellow chairs.

I looked up and noticed that Deven and Preston were whispering to each other. I couldn't hear much of their conversation, the only thing I could make out was Deven asking, "What if she get's mad?" And then Preston gave him an are-you-stupid look. I waited until they were done whispering and when they were done, Preston left the office while Deven sat down on the blue chair beside me.

"Where's Preston going?" I asked wondering if they got into a fight or something. They didn't seem mad at each other so, that couldn't be it.

"I told him he could go to class while I fill out your registration." I nodded my head at him in understanding and handed him the green packet. He quickly started to fill it out while I just fiddled with my phone.

I hadn't noticed that Deven already handed in my registeration until I heard the lady at the front desk ask, "Do you have a certificate?" She said in a disbelieving tone.

He shook his head and said, "No, we lost it on the plane. They said they won't be able to mail us a new certificate in about a year or so."

What is he talking about? A certificate? My birth certificate? and I didn't go on any plane with him.....

I furrowed my eyebrows in confusion while getting up from the chair and walking towards Deven.

They lady eyed Deven skeptically before she moved her gaze to me with the same skeptical look."Fine. But, I want to see that certificate asap."

Deven smirked and nodded as the lady started to type something into the computer. She ushered me to the back of the office where I took my school I.D. picture. After a few more minutes she got my schedule printed out and handed it to me. Of course I didn't have any classes the same as Deven because he was a junior and I was freshman. P.E. was the only class that had different grade levels in it and surprisingly I had the same P.E. period as him. Though I didn't have the same classrooms as him, all my classes were very close to his. I didn't get to see what Deven had registered my name as because I won't be able to get my school I.D. until fourth period.

Deven walked me to first period and kissed my cheek before walking off to his classroom just two doors down. I gave him a small smile while trying to hide the blush creeping towards my cheeks. I swiftly turned towards the door and entered the classroom. It was deadly silent as everyone fixed their eyes on me. I ignored them and handed my teacher a late slip that also explained that I was new to the school. When I actually wasn't.

It was strange though, I got completely different teachers than the ones I met on the first day of school. Which meant I got new classmates as well. No one really knew who I was, some say I was pretending to be Addisyn and others would say I was the real one. It was just really annoying to hear all of their hushed whispering. I sat in all my classes bored to death, but when I finally got to fourth period, I was more angry and shocked than bored.

I finally got my I.D. and I was fuming when I read my name. I looked at the plastic retangle in my hand and looked at my nice picture at the top left hand corner. Next to it, printed in white bolded letters it said:
