Emilia's POV.

Tiredness skirts at the back of my mind but I don't let myself fall asleep, not trusting what will happen to me if I do. The car slows near the gated entrance of what looks to be a forest, and then pulls inside. We drive along a main road, past hundreds of houses, until we reach a mansion in the trees. The driver parks up in front of it. He jumps out and opens the door for my kidnapper so that he can step out with me in his arms.

"Alpha, a word of advice-"

The alpha growls, his chest vibrating with the force of it.

The other man hesitates but continues, "She's human and she's scared."

The alpha glares at the other man and holds me closer to his chest. "She's mine."

I want to argue with him, but now doesn't seem like the right time. This man is clearly unstable and very capricious. I don't want to be left alone with him, hence why I feel a rising sense of panic as the other man gets in the car and pulls away.

The alpha walks up to the house and opens the door with his elbow. He carries me inside and kicks off his shoes. He grabs my trainers and pulls them off my feet before heading straight for the wide staircase. I'm in awe of the house, staring at the rooms as he carries me through it, up to the master bedroom. Everything looks rather expensive, you could fit my flat ten times over into this property, it's enormous.

The alpha holds me with one hand and pulls back the covers of a king-size bed with the other. He places me on the mattress and reaches into my hoodie pocket. He takes out my phone and purse and places them on the side. He holds his hand out, fingers splayed.

"Do not move," he warns lowly.

The determined look in his eye makes me comply. I watch as he rounds the bed and takes off his clothes. He tore his boxers when he turned into a wolf earlier, so he is naked, and I quickly avert my eyes from his taut bottom. He climbs into the bed next to me, uncaring of his own nudity. I remain rigid, sitting upright with my arms by my sides.

The alpha turns off the light and the room becomes pitch-black. I stare into nothing, unable to move, let alone breathe properly. So much has happened tonight, I'm exhausted but I don't want to sleep.

The alpha rolls onto his side and I flinch as he reaches for my leg. He pulls sharply, yanking me down the bed so that I fall out of the sitting position and lay flat, my head falling onto the pillow.

"Sleep," he orders and rolls back over.

I must lay awake for nearly an hour, listening to his breathing. I wait for it to even out and then slowly lift the covers. Moving carefully so I make as little noise as possible, I start to sit up. A hand comes out of nowhere and presses me back to the mattress.

"You're not leaving me," he says coldly in the darkness.

Fear grips me again. I fall back on the bed and clutch the covers to my chest. It takes a long time, but I fall into a restless sleep.

The bright sunlight coming through the curtains wakes me. I feel groggy and confused for a moment before it all comes back to me. I glance to my right and find the alpha still in bed, sleeping soundly. He looks so innocent when he's asleep, like he isn't a murdering kidnapper who turns into a wolf.

I attempt an escape again; I carefully peel back the duvet. I watch him closely as I slowly move to the edge of the bed. Each time his breathing changes, I freeze and wait until it evens out again. I swipe my purse and phone from the bedside table. It takes me about five minutes to get from the bed to the door, but I do it.
