"SO WHAT YOU want me to tag along?" Emery questioned, running the tip of her fingers along the glass.

Klaus nodded, a small smirk playing at his lips, "that's the deal. You and Stefan come with me and I save Damon."

"Why her?" Katherine questioned, sounding confused, "she doesn't practice magic."

"Oh, but she does." Klaus clicked his tongue, looking over at Emery who was now staring at the bourbon in her glass, refusing to meet his stare. "I've seen it."

"That was like once." Emery mumbled, the lie rolling off her tongue, "I don't know how to do any magic."

"That's fine," Klaus's answer made her furrow her brows. Before she could question it, he added, "I just need you to ensure that Stefan won't break our deal and run away the first chance he gets."

"I won't run—" Stefan grunted from the ground as he feasted on the blood bags, "— I promise. You don't have to take her. She's..." He glanced at Emery, knowing his next words would sting but he said it anyway for her own good, hoping that she would understand why he said that, "she's useless."

The hybrid raised a brow at his words as his eyes flickered to Emery who had a crease between her brows, her fingers tightening on the glass around them. He sucked his teeth, shaking his head, "no, you see... That's not what I believe. She's a Grant witch. Her ancestors were among the most powerful witches in the world. I'm sure you knew that."

"Yet they're all dead–" Emery found herself speaking up, "– which means, not powerful. Taking me with you will only slow you down."

"I'll take my chances," Klaus spoke, dismissing her first sentence. It was in fact, very weird how such powerful witches died. But it was none of his business so he never really cared to find out more. As far as he was concerned, their deaths were natural and unfortunate.

Emery let out a sigh at his words while he looked back at Stefan who was drowning blood bag after blood bag and he smirked, "you're very cooperative," he grabbed another blood bag and threw it at him, "it's almost as if you're enjoying it."

"No more," Stefan shook his head, "not until you give me the cure."

"Not until we make a deal," Klaus shot back, "it's your choice, Stefan. You can either remain here living your life in Mystic Falls, or you can embrace what you truly are, leave town with me, and save your brother's life. Same goes for you, Emery."

Klaus walked over and crouched down, picking up the blood bag he threw earlier and offered it to Stefan who snatched it and began drinking it as if he hasn't drank anything in years.

"That's the spirit," Klaus smirked, glancing at Emery then back at Stefan who had now accepted his deal. He took the vial with his blood and looked at Katherine, "sweetheart..." He began compelling her, "take this over to Damon and come right back."

"You want me to leave?" Katherine questioned and before Klaus could have the chance to reply, Stefan began shaking his head at the idea of Katherine being the one to give Damon the vial, "no!"

"Yes and if I were you—" he handed her the vial and she rushed out of the door at vampire speed, "— I'd hurry." He sat down beside Emery on the stool as Stefan began to speak, "she'll never take it to him."

Klaus cocked his head in a gesture of indifference, almost as if he knew Katherine was on vervain.

"She'll never take it to him," Stefan repeated as he looked down and whispered to himself. "Emery doesn't have to come."

"I want her to, Stefan," Klaus spoke up, growing annoyed at him, "it's part of the deal. Besides..." He glanced at Emery who was barely paying attention to them as she downed the entire bottle of bourbon, glass after glass, "I don't think she has a problem with it. See? She's barely caring."

"Em?" Stefan called out making her pause her action of pouring bourbon into her again empty glass. "Yes?"

"Are you–" the Salvatore frowned at his friend's indifference, "are you okay?"

"No," she gulped down the glass and rolled her tongue along her lower lips, not sparing Klaus a glance, "I'm doing this for Damon."

"You don't have–" Stefan was cut off by the hybrid, "– yes, she does. Like I said, just like you, she's part of the deal. Break it and I'll go kill your brother myself." That shut Stefan up.

The Salvatore vampire sighed when the hybrid tossed another blood bag at him with a sadistic grin on his face, "drink up. We have a long journey ahead of us."
