"I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU'RE here," Emery mumbled, her mouth half-full as she stared at Jeremy, a burger in her hands. She returned to Mystic Falls after Damon texted her that the Veil was down yet again and Alaric and Jeremy were both there.

It wasn't easy convincing Klaus to let her go alone, but he did reluctantly agree once she said she was going to text him every second. He wanted to come with her, but he figured he should deal with the Marcel problem. And it was safer for him to take care of that vampire while Emery wasn't around. He didn't want to risk anything.

That was how the witch found herself in the cemetery with Jeremy, Alaric and Elena. It was weird at first, seeing Elena again but the doppelgänger apologized for everything and Emery hoped they were on good terms now even though her harsh words still rang in her head.

"No grease on the other side, huh?" Elena joked at the two who came back from the dead.

"You have no idea how much I miss this," Alaric replied, taking out a bottle of bourbon. "And this," he added as Elena grabbed it from him. "No, hey. Hey—" he whined as Elena took a swig.

"She just got her humanity back," Jeremy spoke up, chuckling, "let her live a little." His eyes darted to Emery who was eating, not looking at the bottle. He raised a brow at her, "so, Em. . ."

"Hm?"

"Heard you burnt down our house," Jeremy let out, a snort getting past his lips. Both Alaric and Elena laughed at that while the witch winced. "I. . . did." She cleared her throat, "I was mad and—"

"That was partly my fault," Elena cut in, shooting her an apologetic look. "I was a bitch. I guess I didn't like the fact that you're dating the guy who made our lives hell. But, I didn't realize that while I was pushing you away, he was there for you, so I can't be mad at you for choosing to be with someone who's been there for you. None of us can. It's your life, you do what you want with it. Point is, I did a lot of thinking— and I'm over it now." Elena took a deep breath as she threw an arm around Emery's shoulders. "You're happy and that's all that matters."

"You two are gonna make me cry," Alaric muttered as he watched the two girls.

As Elena squeezed her shoulder, Emery sniffled, unable to contain the tears that were forming in her eyes. "Oh my god," she breathed out, feeling stupid. Pregnancy hormones, she realized was causing this sudden burst of emotions.

"Aw," Jeremy snickered as he stared at her, feeling overjoyed that everything was somehow getting back to normal. To the way it was. "Look at Em crying."

"I'm not crying, alright?" Emery rolled her eyes as she wiped her tears hastily. "These are just. . . happy kinda tears." Elena interrupted her as she held the bottle of bourbon towards her and said, "here have a drink."

Emery turned her head to the other side as she held her breath, not wanting to smell it as she feared it might make her throw up again. "Nope," she murmured, "I'll pass, thank you."

"That's weird," Jeremy commented as Elena shrugged. He tried to reach for the bottle but the doppelgänger quickly took yet another swig, shaking her head at him. "Hey, you wish."

Jeremy groaned, "hey, I'm dead— what are they gonna do, throw me in juvie?"

"Well at least you'd have a place to live," Alaric joked which earned him a loud sigh from Emery. "Shut up."
