EMERY NEVER THOUGHT that she'd ever see Jenna in front of her, looking as alive as ever again. But there she was, sitting on the edge of her bed with tears in her eyes as she stared at the witch.

"What—" Emery stumbled on her words, "how—"

"— I don't know," Jenna cut her off with a shake of her head, still trying to wrap her mind around the whole thing. "One second I was there, in this house with everyone else and then the next, I'm here."

"Wait," the witch muttered with a slight confusion, "you weren't on the other side? You found peace?"

"I did," she muttered with a nod, "I don't know how or why I'm here honestly. But I have a feeling that you need me."

"I think something went wrong when Bonnie—"

"— It doesn't matter, sweetheart." Jenna cut her off, softly shaking her head. "All that matters is that I'm here right now and the first thing I want to do is make up for everything I've put you through."

"You didn't do anything."

"Yes, I did," Jenna pursed her lips, a frown stretching on her face, "I forced you to get help even though I knew how much you didn't want it. I forced you to open up to some stranger. I'm sorry, I should've respected your decision."

"It's okay."

"No, it's not."

"Jenna, really," Emery moved forward, her hand reaching out to grab both of Jenna's hands in hers, "it's fine. I don't even go see her anymore. I've been really... occupied."

"I know," Jenna smiled, "with the hybrid. What's his name again? Klaus?" Guilt contorted Emery's features at that. He was the one who killed her. She couldn't help but hate herself again for being selfish and dismissing that important point.

"I'm sorry."

Jenna sighed. She stood up from the bed, untangling her hands from the witch's. Ignoring the confused and questioning look she was receiving, she made her way to the other side of her bed and sat down next to her, wrapping her arms around her shoulders like she'd often do. Emery instantly relaxed in her hold, snuggling closer to her with tears in her eyes.

"I don't care, Em." Jenna spoke softly, playing with strands of her hair, "I really don't. I'm happy where I am, you should be happy too. He obviously cares about you. I know he won't hurt you even though he's not exactly the good guy but you've always had a thing for the bad ones, haven't you?"

Emery said nothing to that. She wasn't sure what to say. Instead, she settled on, "I missed you."

"I've missed you more," Jenna smiled, "I have a feeling I'll be going away soon though."

"Wait, aren't you going to see the others?"

She shook her head, a sad smile on her lips, "they can't see me."

"What?" Emery raised her brows in confusion, "why not? Why can I?"

"Must be because you're one hell of a special witch."

"I can assure you, I'm not special." Emery cleared her throat, "if anything I'm the worst."

"Now you know that's not true. Anyways, tell me," Jenna ushered, "how do you feel about him?"

"I'm not sure."

Jenna raised an unimpressed brows, "yes, you are."

"Are you really asking about my feelings for the guy who murdered you—" the words came out harsher than the witch intended. Jenna pursed her lips and slowly shook her head, "I'm willing to look past that for you."

"I'm not," Emery muttered, her eyes glossing up, "you would've still been here if not for him. I mean— he did apologise but still. It's not fair that he took you away from me—"

"— Listen to me," Jenna interrupted before she could continue, "sure, I'm pissed that he killed me but really, I'm over it. It's been three months. I've been watching you. You're doing better than ever, you don't do half of the things you used to do anymore. You are happy, I can practically feel it. So don't hold yourself back because of what he did to me. Look at how he treats you. The guy looks at you like you're the only one that matters."

"Yet he's not here."

"Maybe he has his reasons," Jenna shrugged and Emery stared at her in disbelief. "You're not seriously siding with him?"

"I am," the older woman smiled, "he left his sister here too so there must be a good reason for that. He'll come back for you, don't worry, sweetheart. Anyways, tell me about that curse of yours."

Emery's face visibly paled at how random the question was and calm Jenna was about it. She parted her lips, about to ask how she knew when Jenna beat her to it. "Like I said, I've been watching you."

"It's just a stupid curse some bitch placed on my entire family," she mumbled, "doesn't matter."

"Yes, it does." Jenna was close to glaring at her, "you're dying, Em. I've seen you suffer, I've seen everything and I couldn't do anything. I hate it."

"There's nothing you could've done anyway."

"But you can do something," Jenna narrowed her eyes at her as she spoke, "I've heard the conversation with that other witch. The one who gave you a solution to your problem."

"I'm not linking my life to Klaus," Emery said firmly, thinking about everything that could go wrong if she was to do that.

"Why not?" Jenna frowned in confusion, unable to understand Emery's refusal, "he's the original hybrid, he's immortal. He likes you and he'll definitely keep you alive."

"He'll want to know why I'll do it which means I'll have to tell him. He might even refuse, he probably doesn't even care. What if I tell him and he still says no?" The witch asked, shaking her head, "I'll be embarrassed as fuck. I won't survive that."

"You're being dramatic," Jenna sighed, giving her a blank look.

"Nope," Emery muttered, "what I'm being is realistic."

"He cares about you a lot," Jenna informed, "stop thinking otherwise. You know he does. He'll not say no to you, come on. You know that too. You just don't want to tell him about the curse."

She went silent at that. Until after a few seconds, Jenna spoke up again, "you should tell him."

"No."

"Why?"

"I don't want to."

"I think he deserves to know that the girl he's falling in love with is about to die and doesn't want to be helped."

Emery scoffed, "you're delusional if you think that he's falling in love with me."

"I've been watching you, remember?" Jenna raised her brows, "you're not the only one I can watch. And don't even try to deny your feelings for him. The one too many sketches of him in your sketchbook says otherwise."

Her eyes widened, "that's a clear violation of my privacy."

Jenna chuckled, "don't worry. I don't watch everything."

"We haven't done anything."

"Yet."

"You're insane."

"No," Jenna wrapped her arms around her tighter, "I'm just happy for you. You deserve this and I think you should pursue it which you won't be able to do if you die."

"What if it doesn't work?" She sighed, "there's a high chance it won't."

"You'll never find out if you don't try."
