"YOU SAID IT WAS gonna feel better," Ray whispered in pain as he looked up at Klaus, "why doesn't it feel better?"

"Some master race." Stefan mocked making both Emery and Klaus look at him with an annoyed look on their faces.

"It's not funny," Emery said at the same time as Klaus did, "lose the attitude."

Before Stefan could come up with something, the girl on the ground gasped awake. "Derek," Klaus turned to some guy, "come feed your girlfriend." Just then, Ray snarled and growled at them as he began to grow feral and running around, jumping over rocks.

"Sweet," Emery sighed, feeling bad for the werewolf. Klaus glanced at her for a split second before he looked at Stefan, "go get him."

Stefan jumped on Ray and pushed him on the ground. However, Ray bit him and then he ran away.

Klaus and Emery decided to walk to where Stefan was standing with his back to them. "Where did he go?" The hybrid questioned making Stefan turn around, "he, uh— he got away. Forget him. Let's go."

Emery furrowed her brows when her eyes landed on his arm. The werewolf bite visible to their eyes and a small gasp left her mouth, "holy fuck, he bit you!"

Klaus's lips twitched up at her words as he grabbed Stefan's arm, inspecting it, "a fatal werewolf bite. Ouch."

"Yeah," Stefan winced, "I'm gonna need your blood to heal me."

"Well, I tell you what," Klaus dropped his arm, "you find Ray, and then I'll heal you."

Stefan scoffed, "you can't be serious—"

"— You better hurry," Klaus interrupted, "cause that bite looks nasty." Leaving Stefan standing there, he began walking back to the campsite after having grabbed Emery's arm, dragging her along. Stefan said nothing, knowing he had more important matters to deal with.

The witch tried to keep up with the hybrid's fast and long strides even though he was literally dragging her around like a ragdoll. Her eyes fell on the werewolves who were lying on the ground, whimpering in pain as she walked. She glanced at Klaus to find a smile playing at his lips.

"Why are you smiling?"

Klaus's steps haltered and he turned to look at her, his brows raising, "I'm getting what I want. Isn't that obvious?"

"I— no—" she cleared her throat, her eyes darting behind him to the werewolves, "I think something's wrong."

"You think?" Klaus repeated, letting his hands fall to his sides as he furrowed his brows at her, "what do you mean?" He inquired further, "like, you have a feeling?"

"I just—" the words got held up in her throat when she realised that she didn't know how to explain this to him. She could sense it, deep down, that something was not right with those werewolves. But why would Klaus ever believe her? That thought made her decide to not say anything about it. "— Never mind. It's probably nothing."

The hybrid hummed in response, silence taking over their surroundings after that. Neither of them said anything. Emery decided to go sit on a nearby big rock, feeling tired while Klaus waited for his werewolves to come back to life.

She sat there for over fifteen minutes, her mind somehow filled with Klaus. She couldn't deny that he wasn't attractive and there was definitely something in the air between them. It was like some sort of magnet that made her want to stay near Klaus despite everything. She didn't know whether he felt it as well but she hoped that he did. However, the thought that he killed her aunt made her frown in frustration at what she was even thinking about.

'Get a grip on yourself, Em.' she harshly thought, 'think about Jenna.'

But then there was this other part of her that was telling her that Jenna wouldn't be against this. After all, all she wanted was for Emery to be happy, to do what she truly ever wanted.

Her thoughts were interrupted when she felt his presence near her again. Raising her head, she saw Klaus standing right in front of her, towering over her since she was still sitting. "Can I help you?"

"What was that earlier?" He decided to jump to the point. He couldn't stop thinking about it.

"I'm afraid I don't know what you mean," Emery muttered even though she knew. She just didn't want to talk about it.

"Your little coughing fit you've had in the bathroom," Klaus clarified, "took you about ten minutes. Are you ill?" Before she could reply, he continued, analysing her pale face and tired eyes, "you sure do look like it. You could've told me, you know? I'm not some heartless wanker who would've forced you to come along despite the fact that you were not feeling well."

"I'm okay," she brushed off his concern, "I'm just feeling a bit tired, I guess?"

"Tired?" He repeated, narrowing his eyes in slight disbelief, "is that it then? You're not sick?"

"Nope— hey!" She swatted his hand away when he tried to touch her face, "what do you think you're doing?" Klaus frowned at her but then he rolled his eyes, "relax, will you? I'm just checking if you have a temperature."

"Oh, I don't," she felt her cheeks redening before cleared her throat, "—have a temperature, I mean."

"Let me be the judge of that," Klaus tried not to smirk at her obvious flustered self as his hand reached out to her face again. This time, Emery didn't react and let him place his palm against her forehead.

"See?" She tried to ignore the feeling of his skin on hers for the second time that day, "I'm fine." Physically.

"That doesn't prove anything," he allowed his hand to drift to the side of her face while she furrowed her brows at the action but made no attempts to push him away. He ran his thumb on her right cheek then moved to her lower lip as she involuntarily parted her lips. She just sat there, seeming like she was in a trance as he softly caressed her lip, looking deep in thought.

It wasn't until he moved his hand to her jaw and lower until he was touching her neck that she realised what was going on. "Klaus," she tried to get his attention, hating that her voice sounded so breathless from literally nothing. "Klaus!" She called out louder when he didn't respond the first time.

The hybrid blinked a few times before he furrowed his brows and immediately dropped his hand from her. "Oh, fuck," He cursed under his breath. It was the first time Emery was hearing him say that word and she had to admit, she didn't expect he ever would. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to stare, I didn't realise—"

"— It's okay," she cut him off, refraining herself from widening her eyes at his apology. She was not expecting one.

Klaus said nothing to that. Instead, he gave her a curt nod and walked towards where the werewolves were with her on his mind. What was he thinking?

Thought I'd give some more Klaus and Emery content. Can't wait for them to get together. It's gonna be so fun and sad at the same time 😍
