Y/n and Sylvain had been mourning their father's death. She had recently inherited the title of Margrave Gautier, and was prepared to rule her house, but she knew she could never be as good as her father.

Currently, she was training, in a black tank top that showed her muscular arms, and athletic shorts. She swung her axe gracefully, listening to the whoosh it made as it sliced the air.

Training had been her escape from her emotions, and she had grown these habits from her friend, Felix, who had similar coping mechanisms. She eventually put her axe away, and headed to the baths to freshen up. After, she made her way to her dorm, not before catching the attention of Ashe.

His beautiful, seafoam-green eyes met her e/c ones, and she smiled, causing blush to spread across his freckled cheeks.

Ashe knew that these feelings he, a commoner, had towards a noble were taboo. Hell, she wasn't just a noble, she was a margrave. He was sure she thought of him a close friend, and nothing more. He assumed she would be married off to Felix or Dimitri. Nevertheless, he sought out Annette and Mercedes, who were not only her friends, but his as well.

"Hey, Ashe! What can we do for you?" Annette looked up from the flowers she was watering. Ashe found the girls out in the greenhouse.

"Uhm, well, this may be super random, but I need relationship advice..." He rubbed the back of his neck, and Mercedes chuckled.

"Ooh, who's the lucky lady?" Annette wiggled her eyebrows.

"Y/n..." Ashe mumbled.

Mercedes smiled. "Oh, that is wonderful!!" The two girls knew of Y/n's feelings towards Ashe as well.

"It's just that commoner and noble love is taboo... and besides, she a margrave now..." Ashe sighed.

Annette laughed. "She doesn't believe in that! She believes that you love whoever, regardless of status, gender, whatever. Trust me."

"You should ask her to tea. I'm sure she'd love that. I'll even help you prepare her favourite tea and snacks." Mercedes set down her watering can, and began guiding Ashe out of the greenhouse.

"Wait up!" Annette ran after them.

~~~~~~~~
Ashe and the girls had finished preparing the treats and the tea. He had it all ready to go in a wicker basket.
"You're sure she doesn't care about status?" Ashe inquired.
Annette and Mercedes shared a knowing look. "Positive."
Annette touched his shoulder. "It'll be okay. Now, get out there and go get her!!"
He approached her room, hesitating to knock.
He tapped his knuckles gently on the door.
She lifted her head from where it was placed in her hands. She wiped the tears off her cheeks, and asked, "Who is it?" Her voice sounded strained and shaky.
"It's Ashe."
She stood, turning the doorknob. He gently smiled at her. It faded upon seeing her tear-stained cheeks.
"Y/n... are you alright?" He asked, worry lacing his words.
She nodded, smiling. "Yeah... just still processing the loss of my father."
"Well... would you like to come to tea with me? Maybe it'll help distract you." Ashe offered.
She smiled at him. "Sure. I'll meet you in the courtyard. Gotta clean up a bit." She laughed.
He smiled back at her. "Okay, I'll see you there!"
He felt bad for her. So, so bad. He knew how it felt. He assumed she felt like how he did when Lonato died; he hoped this would be enough to cheer her up.
Ashe made his way towards a vacant table, and set everything up. Now, he awaited her arrival.
Eventually, Y/n appeared, wearing a beautiful dress.
"Okay, I'm here. Thank you for inviting me, Ashe." She sat down, and poured some tea into her cup.
"The pleasure is mine, Y/n." Ashe smiled, sipping at his tea.
"Was there any particular reason for this? Any special occasions I should be made aware of?" Y/n said, laughing a little. She picked up a cookie from the tray, and began to nibble on it.
Ashe was fidgeting. "Uhm... not a special occasion, I guess, but I do need to ask you something."
She set down her cookie, full attention on Ashe. She smiled. "You can tell me anything."
"Okay... I'll just say it. I really, really like you, Y/n... I know I shouldn't feel this way, you're a noble, a margrave, and it's taboo, but I just thought you should know..." Ashe stared at his hands.
"Ashe... do you know me at all? I could care less that you're a commoner. Even though I'm Margrave Gautier, status holds nothing to love in my opinion. I like you too, Ashe." She stood up, walking over to Ashe, and lifted his chin to meet her eyes.
His freckled cheeks were bright red, as red as her hair, perhaps even more. "R-Really?"
She nodded, gently pressing her lips on his. They pulled away, and he stood up, pressing his lips on hers again.
"Don't automatically assume things," Y/n had said after they pulled away. "I would love you regardless if you were a noble or a commoner. I love you for you. And, I want you to help rule House Gautier someday..."
"I would like that, Y/n... I would love it."
