Chapter 19

Aurora

I stretched my legs out across the chair and yawned. Merryn and I were the first ones awake, laid in the living room. The last few days had been very strenuous, what with the surprise arrival of Marcus and Felix's new found foul mood. He didn't like Marcus.

"Aurora?" Merryn called from the floor.

"Yes?" I replied.

Merryn shifted herself so her elbow was on the floor, supporting her head in her hands. She examined me with her hazel eyes. After doing this, she lay back on the floor and stared at the ceiling.

"I know a secret."

"Do you?" I asked.

I sat myself up to look at her. Her blonde curls were splayed out across the floor, a tangle of messy ringlets.

"Yeah, it's about Felix."

She giggled. I raised my eyebrows at her and smiled slightly. I was curious. Surely there weren't many more secrets Felix had, other than this whole Angel thing. That was a pretty big secret.

"What is it?"

She giggled again, her hazel eyes sparkling. Her pearl white teeth shone unde the light of the living room.

"Finley told me not to tell you." She laughed.

I pouted comically and crossed my arms over my chest. Merryn laughed and threw a pillow at my head. The soft object collided with my face, stunning me slightly.

"Aurora?" She asked again.

"Yes Merryn?"

She sighed and sat up on the floor. She crossed her legs and watched me, tilting her head to the side slightly. Her curls tumbled down her shoulder like a river down the side of a mountain.

"Why is Felix angry again?"

"Felix is angry because Aurora is supposed to be in the training room." A voice interrupted.

I looked up from the blonde girl on the floor to be met with Felix, leant up against the door frame. He raised an eyebrow at me.

"I didn't think you were awake." I protested.

"That's beside the point, you're always supposed to be in the training room at this time of the morning, with or without me."

I rolled my eyes. His newly found bad mood was beginning to get on my nerves. It was possible that this new, angry Felix was worse than the old, annoying one. I pushed myself up off of the chair, his blue eyed gaze on me the whole time.

"Alright grumpy, don't get your knickers in a twist." I smirked slightly as I slipped passed him.

He muttered something to Merryn before following me out. My flat shoes echoed along the hall, the noise reverberating off of each and every surface. We approached the training room without a word to one another, just like old times. I blew a piece of hair out of my face for something to do. Felix really wasn't a conversationalist when he was angry.

Felix silently pushed the training room door open. He didn't hold it open for me, instead allowing it to fall back on me. I glared at his back as he shrugged off his jacket and discarded it on a bench off to the side.

"So what are we doing today, boss?" I asked in a, hopefully, annoying cheery tone.

"Today we are supposed to be practising switching quickly from offence to defence." He told me.

I strolled towards the blue mat. The material was soft and spongy under my feet, allowing me to sink into it slightly. Felix joined me on the mat, his face sullen.
