Chapter 31

Aurora

I sat up and rubbed my head from where I had bumped it on the way down that death trap of a drop. I screwed up my face as I felt a bump forming. That was going to sting.

Luminance, Kelra and Cinder all looked down on us, shaking their tiny heads. I gasped as my eyes adjusted to the light of the room. Crystals of a variety of different colours glistened up the walls and across the ceiling of the cave. Crystals of purple, green, orange and blue.

I grinned and pushed myself up off of the ground, examining some of the beautiful gems. Thorne was already doing the same. She ran her hand along a group of amber coloured crystals, smiling in glee. Sebastian just gawped at the sight.

"This is amazing!" I grinned. "Felix, look!"

Nobody replied. I frowned and stopped inspecting the crystals, slightly worried about Felix not replying. Maybe he'd found an extremely interesting crystal. Luminance hovered over my shoulder, inspecting a piece of my hair, her little hands knotting in its messy strands.

"Felix!" I gasped as I saw him, still laying on the floor.

My hair fell from Luminance's grasp as I ran towards him. The tiny fairy kept pace with me, her wings tickling my cheek. I stopped by the obsidian haired boy, whose skin was a sickly yellow. He had squeezed his eyes shut and clenched his fists.

"What's wrong with him?" I asked.

"It must be that cut. It was giving him some trouble when we were fighting the Nex." Thorne said from behind me.

"But it's just a scratch?"

Sebastian knelt down on my right, leaning over Felix. The rip in Felix's shirt was small and neat, but the edges were stained with blood. I bit my lip and reached towards the hem of his shirt. I lifted it to just above the wound, which was beginning to turn a putrid shade of yellow. Bruises were scattered along his skin, yellow and blue.

Sebastian swore as he looked at it. I moved up, closer to Felix's head, to allow Sebastian to look at the wound. I watched as Sebastian prodded at the wound, using the hem of Felix's shirt to dab away at it.

"Jesus, Seb!" Felix cursed.

"Sorry." Sebastian smiled sheepishly.

Felix chuckled dryly, peeling one eye open. He was clearly in intense pain. I bit my lip as I watched, slipping my hand into his, despite his clear death grip. He attempted to smile gratefully at me, but it appeared as more of a grimace.

"Is it possible that you could do anything for him?" Thorne asked, in the most eloquent manner.

All three fairies turned to look at each other. Luminance took a perch on my right shoulder, gazing up at her friends. Cinder and Kelra looked at each other uncertainly.

"There is a possibility-" Kelra began.

"But we aren't supposed to waste it." Cinder finished.

Sebastian snapped his head up from the wound. He glared at the two fairies hovering behind him.

"But this is Skrl poison! This could kill him!"

Kelra just glared at Sebastian. Snapping wasn't going to help us persuade them. Felix's hand slowly grew tighter around mine, his knuckles turning white. I could see the wound slowly growing worse, the Skrl poisons turning the veins in his wrist a deep purple colour.

"Please." I looked up at Cinder and Kelra. "Please help him."

Luminance fluttered off of my shoulder and towards her two friends. Her blonde hair swayed against her waist as she muttered something quietly to them. They both sighed and nodded.
