Chapter 21

Aurora

Felix's hand rested firmly on my waist as we spun around the dance floor. Due to my natural clumsiness, I was better at the slower dances as opposed to the faster ones. Currently, the tempo was faster than I was used to. I stepped on Felix's foot again, making him laugh.

"Remind me to wear armour the next time I dance with you." Felix chuckled.

"Shut up." I muttered.

"Look, all you're doing wrong is that you're moving your feet too soon. I'll help."

Felix began to tell me when to move each foot and where to move it. I slowly began to understand and was soon doing it myself. Well, I had to stare down at my feet to check if I was getting it right, but close enough.

"Aurora, you're not supposed to stare down at your feet." Felix pointed out.

"But I can't do it without looking at them." I protested, without looking up at him.

"Aurora, look at me and just move your feet like you've been doing for the last few minutes."

I sighed and looked up from my feet. Felix gave me a quick lopsided smile, which made me blush slightly. He chuckled again. I hit him playfully on the chest.

"Hey, don't you ever tell me I'm not a good teacher." He grinned.

I frowned before I realised what he was saying. I was absentmindedly moving my feet in the correct patterns. Damn, he was good.

"Okay, okay. Mr Felix Na'iralsaif, teacher of the year." I smirked.

Felix smiled as he suddenly spun me around, my skirt billowing out slightly. I giggled as my hair flew out slightly whilst Felix span me. We didn't pay any attention to the people around us. Felix sent me a toothy grin, his face half hidden behind the elegant mask he wore. The feathers from the mask fluttered slightly as we moved, his blue eyes twinkling under the chandelier cast light.

We stopped spinning, realising that a few people were staring. I looked away from a particularly piercing gaze I was receiving from a rather sinister looking woman.

"Maybe that's not the best way to keep undercover." Felix whispered, pulling me back in to dance.

"Maybe not." I agreed.

I looked back up at him, his midnight black hair falling into his face slightly. It didn't take me long to realise how close I was to him. My heart fluttered slightly. A new sensation entered my stomach, like a million butterflies flitting around freely. I knew I was staring. He glanced down at my lips and then back up to my eyes. He bent his neck slightly and-

"Aurora, Felix, there you are!" Skylar exclaimed.

Felix sighed and dropped his hands from my waist. I stood there for a second longer as Felix turned his attention to the older boy. I was confused. Had Felix just tried- No.

"Skylar." Felix greeted bluntly.

"We should go over to the side, so we're not in the way of the dancers." Skylar opined.

I frowned, wondering what was so important. Felix shrugged at me. We followed Skylar through a crowd of beautiful dresses and smart suits. I passed by one woman in a particularly beautiful lilac dress, which went put like a meringue at her waist.

Skylar eventually stopped at the buffet, picking up a cocktail sausage. He plopped it in his mouth and chewed before speaking.

"Have you guys seen Thorne?" He asked.
