Secrets Chapter 23
Aurora
We had been planning the capture of Celeste over the past few days. It wasn't quite as simple as the whole raid from a few weeks ago, but hopefully it should be more successful.
I sighed and quickly examined the room around me. I still sat in the hospital ward, like I had been for the past couple of days. Logan had told me that it was better for me to stay there, just in case the poison had a few unknown side effects. I suppose it had, leaving a collection of purple bruises on the back of my leg.
I decided to pick at the bandage which was wrapped tightly around my calf. Felix would kill me for this. The bandage was due off today, just in time for the mission to capture Celeste. I had still been training, but staying in here meant I was closer to any medical tools we might suddenly need. Logan had said that this poison was very volatile.
"Again?" I heard a familiar exasperated voice.
I looked up to find Felix walking towards me. He raised an eyebrow at me as I slowly pulled my hand away from the bandage, trying not to look suspicious.
"Yeah, as if I didn't know what you were doing." He sighed as he sat down at the end of my bed.
"Well I thought I'd save you a job, because the bandage is coming off today anyway. So I just thought, oh I'll help Felix and remove it myself." I told him.
"Did you now?"
I nodded and grinned at him. Felix shook his head at me.
"Is it hurting?"
I raised an eyebrow at him and cocked my head slightly.
"Felix, this is me we're talking about. Do you seriously think I'd keep quiet if it was hurting?"
"I guess not, you nag more than Sebastian when you're hurt."
I laughed sarcastically, causing him to smirk. He moved his hand to my leg, so he could examine my bandaged leg. I winced slightly as he gently turned it over in his hand.
"I thought it didn't hurt." He smirked.
"It does when you keep prodding it!" I protested.
"Well maybe you need a few more days in the bandage."
"Felix, if you make me wear that thing any longer-"
"Whoa, okay! I was joking."
Felix sighed as he further rolled up the leg of my trousers, so he could get to the top of my bandage. His hand was warm as it brushed against my leg. He looked on proudly at the bandage wrapped around my leg.
"I'm very pleased with that, aren't you?"
I frowned and stared at the stark white bandage sat on my leg. I tucked my hair behind my ear and looked up at him, with what I hoped was I questioning look on my face. He looked up and smiled at me, a true, toothy grin.
"I never used to be very good at wrapping bandages, of course when someone hangs out with you it's kind of a necessity."
"That's hilarious."
He grinned guiltily. I laughed and looked down at my lap, my hair falling into my face. I looked up again. Felix's dark hair fell into his face. Neither of us spoke as he brought his eyes to meet mine.
He lifted his hand cautiously and pushed my hair out of my face, his fingers brushing my cheek slightly. I watched his face as he tucked my hair behind my ear. His fingers lingered slightly behind my ear, his blue eyes examining my face.
