Draft #169
Outkasts were blinded by their ego - they believed their prisoners would be held back by their fear. It offered little comfort, really, but it allowed Kohgrash and I to remain in the same cell.
It offered little comfort.

Mercifully, their captors did not hurt Kohgrash in their effort to guide them to their cells. No, they hurt him, instead.
Was this how Kohgrash felt, he wondered, nearly breathless with the spasms of electricity coursing through his body. Every time he was prodded with it - some sort of buzzing, glowing disc on the palm of his mother's hand - Kohgrash screamed his protests.
It was effective, though. Whatever the human was doing, whether it be resisting his path forward or struggling against his bonds, a small shock to Rulshkka made him immediately stop.
Bonded prisoners, they had said. Rulshkka supposed there was no better term for it.
They were shoved unceremoniously into a cell - a bereft room with only the barest of necessities - and were left alone after they were released from their cuffs.
As soon as the door was shut and the Outkasts had gone, Kohgrash immediately slammed his body against the door, snarling wordlessly. He banged his fists against the cold metal repeatedly.
"You're going to hurt yourself," Rulshkka told him, having to sit down on the bed - he'd be unable to sleep like he normally would; he'd be lucky if he could curl up on it - to catch his breath.
Kohgrash whirled around, face twisted. Complicated emotions flickered across it, too complex for Rulshkka to decipher right now.
"Why aren't you doing anything?" he demanded, fear making him angry. Rulshkka just smiled at him. If anything, it only made him angrier. "Stand up, Vok'Rul! We gotta get the fuck out of here!"
Rulshkka extended his hands. They shook with traces of electricity. Kohgrash's eyes were fixated on it before his face crumpled.
He pressed his hands to his eyes, taking in deep, heaving breaths. They quickly become uneven and hurried, and Rulshkka got to his feet as quickly as he could, taking Kohgrash by the shoulders. His claws dug into his shoulders as he pulled him closer.
"We will get out, Kohgrash," his voice dropped to a whisper. "Outkasts are proving to be ridiculously easy to fool. Look, they're already made their first mistake. They put us together."
He wasn't sure if Kohgrash was really listening to him, though. Rulshkka hugged him tightly, knowing that this was likely the worst thing that could've happened to the pair of them. Aside from being locked in a cell, which likely reminded Kohgrash of his time in the Ring, their captors resembled his old tormentors.
He couldn't imagine what his human going through.
"Wh-wh-wh-" Kohgrash choked out, fingers grasping onto his sleeves tightly. His chest heaved, and Rulshkka shushed him.
"It's okay, Kohgrash," he soothed as best he could. If he were honest, he was terrified. He hadn't heard much of the Buffet - and what he did were steeped in rumored suspicion - but he suspected that they'd be able to get their chance to escape soon. "It's okay."
They were not bothered for the rest of the night. The lights went out soon after they were deposited into this cell, and neither he nor Kohgrash slept that much. When he felt Kohgrash slump against his side eventually, breathing slowing to an uneven snore, he only knew it was a matter of time before the human woke up in fright.
