Chapter 14- Work and Broken Hearts

Rayna's POV:

After dinner, I followed Nick outside and we went for a walk. I think I was starting to fall for him. We sat on the bench swing outside the cabin, I didn't realize how close we were.

"So how do you like it so far?", I asked enthusiastically. He answered with a mumbled fine. I asked him if everything was okay and he just nodded.

I decided to be bold and got a hold on his hand. He looked up abruptly and let go. I was confused.... didn't he like me?

He stared at me and cleared his throat, "Rayna I really enjoy your company but I only think of you as a friend. I kind of like someone already I'm sorry."

Right.... of course. Why would he like someone like me? Why would anybody like me? I sighed and walked into the cabin despite his shouting after me.

Everyone else was getting ready for bed, but Anna wasn't there. I went out looking for her. I found her sitting on the ground. "Hey" she looked up and gave a smile. I asked why she was here, she answered saying she wanted to see and stars.

"So how are you and Mr. Player?" she asked smirking. I sighed and told her what happened. She looked at me and gave me a reassuring smile. "You can find someone so much better, someone maybe who was always in front of you the whole time. Someone like Will. I think he likes you."

I considered it for a moment. Will and I didn't talk much but maybe this summer we'll become closer.

Penny's POV:

*RING RING RING*

*RING RING RING*

What was that awful noise? I opened one eye and I see Drake yelling outside to stop the noise before he kicked someone's ass.

I chuckled to myself. Only him. I realized it was the bell to wake everyone up. Today was the official first day of work.

I had life guard duty with Drake so I had my pink floral bikini on. I put a plain racer back coral tank top over it with ripped jean shorts. I slipped into my flip-flops and grabbed my tan straw fedora.

Rayna and Will had to play games with the kids in the arena center. She slipped on regular jean shorts and a plain gray and white striped shirt. She put on gray flip-flops and white ray bans. She ran off with Will.

Anna and Nick had farm work. She looked super tired, but still moved quickly. She put on a white tank top with an American Flag on it with jeans shorts. The shorts had the outline of the American Flag underneath. She wore a navy and white striped bandeau under the tank top and red converse. She pulled her hair into a pony and set off to work. She didn't wait for Nick.

I feel the tension.

Lifeguard duty in the morning was fun. Except that Drake was splashing me every ten seconds. The first half of the day was coming to an end. We walked together to the cabin to change for lunch.
